My first copper colored lighter coffee beer. The aroma is tremendous on this one. Pure coffee. The Belgian beer underneath holds up to it without being too funky.

Pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head. Very intense coffee aroma with an espresso and coffee ground character. A little toast and roast, Not much else. The flavor is also dominated by the coffee, but there is a strong sugar note, too, almost burnt sugar. Weird.

Mostly clear amber pour, whitish head. Aroma? Coffee, coffee and coffee! Maybe a hint of caramel. Flavor is loaded with an nice dose of coffee, caramel and a bit of an apple note. Enjoyed at the Bruery Provisions.

Tap. Rating #5. Clear medium amber pour with a nice white head. Aroma ias all roasted coffee, can’t pick anything out of it except that. Flavor is similar with the exception being a little smoke in the aftertaste. Not a coffee fan, but this is pretty good. (1978)

On tap. Belgian Ale? Not so much. Pours with a hazed golden to orange body with a lasting off-white head. Aromas are big time roasty with some light, slightly dank hops. Biscuity, fresh coffee. A hint grassy. Very different. Flavors are malty, bready, warm. Light coffee and a mild bitterness. A few stray esters. Nice, just coffee, no roast astringency. Medium bubbles. Finishes dry. Very nice.

Appearance: Pours a translucent bronze with a creamy 1/4 inch beige head.
Aroma: Freshly ground coffee, caramel and toffee.
Taste: Prepared cold coffee, roasted malt and fruity yeast.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with subtle carbonation.
Overall: An interesting, one of a kind beer. I dig it, but I don’t think I would drink a lot of this in one sitting. Complex.

Sampled on tap at Intelligentsia’s cafe location in Pasadena. The bartender poured it and I almost sent it back. This is a coffee beer - how can it be amber colored? But I took a sip anyway. WOW. Belgian spiciness upfront with a rich coffee finish at the very tail end. Incredible beer - unlike anything I’ve ever had before. High alcohol and caffeine? Hope this one doesn’t set me back. Brilliant stuff, best beer yet from Eagle Rock Brewery!
