COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Born from a melding of cultures whilst on the run from the Vogon fleet. Utilising brewers born under the Long White Cloud and St Georgeís Cross. Incorporating German, English and Canterbury malts, lashings of New Zealand and American hops, shaken not stirred Christchurch artesian water and a well bred American yeast. Ideal after a meal at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, the effect of drinking a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is like having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Cheers, Sean and Dave.

Draft. Dark brown and slightly could with almost no head. Smells rich and complex, with butterscotch, rum, dough, fruitcake and spices. Flavour shows off an impressive maltiness that is not overly roasted or too sweet. Subtle hop aromas add balance and complexity without smothering the malts. The alcohol is so well disguised to make this almost too drinkable. Tastes like a lot of work went into getting this beer just right.

The head is robust, the body dark brown, almost black. It smells hoparomatic, darkmalty, hoppy, a bit roasty, bit fruity. The taste is roasty, darkmalty, aromatic, fruity-fresh. Good! 3.7

Brown Ale? Wow, I didnít know brown ales could taste so red. The taste doesnít really match the description. For me, whereas the majority of the beers I drink have a malt base to support the glittering hop pony, this beer has a hop base to properly show off the malt pony. And a mighty fine malt pony it is, too. Hey, maybe thatís what a brown ale is. Iíll check it out.

supremely likable with huge sweet richness, dark fruits, nuts and caramel. like a huge big cuddly soft non-prickly un-angry grizzly bear. i want to hug it. yum. name is unfortunate though, because as good as it is, it certainly isnít like being hit across the head with lemon wrapped around a gold brick. more suited to libertyís c!tra, or some other big citrus dipa i think.

This is a top beer, itís got a lot going on and isnít a difficult beer to enjoy. A "Brown Ale" does not do it justice this is much more than a cloth cap beer. Thoroughly enjoying it!

Does hide the alcohol well, with malty caramel flavours undertones. However a little underwhelmed by this beer.

Clear and ruby-brown colour underneath a latte coloured head. Aromas of rich, sweet rum and raisin chocolate, fruitcake and allspice. Silky body and then burnt caramel and rummy chocolate again. Bitterness is elegant and restrained with the finish giving a nod to those sweet, rich dessert cake flavours. Shorter than my usual reviews, not that it warrants less. This beer is generously flavoured and a real charmer.
