Cask at GBBF 2007. A very dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and roasted malt - the roasted malt lending it a slight acidity combined with a slight note of berries. The flavor is sweet mlaty with light notes of roasted malt, berries and vegetables, leading to a slightly bitter and roasted finish. The mouthfeel is very smooth. Nice, but the body is thin.

Bottle at LCRBM3. Hazy dark brown, no head. Decent malt, some caramel and good coffee and choc. Very drinkable, a bit like a choccy bitter. Easy drinking.

3rd LCRBM. Slight roast aroma. Firm roast flavor with some malt and licorice. Just a bit sweet. A touch of milk. Just below medium bodied. Nice porter, without being spectacular.

Bottled. A dark brown "porter" wi th a reddy hue. The aroma is really fruity - oranges and strawberries with lots of hop smells. The taste is also really sweet, fruity and mellow but there is no roastiness chocolate coffee or anything I might expect. A really interesting tasty beer which struggles to meet what I call a porter but is very nice all the same.

Cask (Peterborough Beer Festival 2004) 4.2% Rich brown, small head. Roasted malt aroma. Sweet caramel malt, some chocolate, and a gentle hoppy taste. But that understates things - the taste was beautiful and exceptionally well balanced. Pleasant combo finish.

Hazy, near-black brown; bottled version of B.C.H. Sweet nose, with sweet apples and English hops. Lightly sweet, liquorice, cardboard flavours and precious little hops left. Light body, but very slick. A bit light as a porter, compared to DK/USA porters. But rather attractive easy-drinking one.
