pintbypint (1610) - Edmonton, - OCT 7, 2006
Poured chestnut brown, small creamy head. Chocolately malt aroma, a bit of raosty notes. Caramel malt flavour with a rasiny note. Mouthfeel was creamy, slight roasted aftertaste. A touch overpriced and served too cold, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Draft at Earls. Pours clear dark tawny, with a ruby flash. Thick foamy pale tan head, passable lacing. Nose is soft roast, red fruit. Flavours of red fruit, tart berry, a hint of smoke, a bit of tea, some creaminess in the finish.

An easy drinking brew found at Earl’s (Winter Pudding) and Joey Tomoatoes (Pin-up Winter Pudding I think) restaraunts. Got served a beyond cold pint (which sucked) with a light brown bubbly head with little retention. Has a healthy ammount of messy lacing. Brew is dark brown with some red highlights. Virtually no aroma to this but if you try hard and you let it warm up milk chocolate powder and coffee can be found, albeit with a dusty impression. Taste was pretty much the same. Mouthfeel was spritzy and quite pop-like. Just above light bodied. Had a slight bitterness to it. Overal dissapointing for the beer nerd in you but an ok change from the selection of light lagers they have. The music was so brutal that I had to make note of it - You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon followed by You Can’t Touch This by MC Hammer. At that point I started wanting to stab everyone.

Brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is malty with a light roastiness and some smoke and caramel. Taste is malty with the smoke, caramel, light toffee. Reminds me more of a Scottish then a porter.

On tap@Joey Tomatos: Dark brown color with a large tan head. Light sweet stout aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet with hints of chocolate pudding followed by a weak coffee finish. Light bodied and smooth with soft carbonation.

mgermani (936) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 4, 2007
Delivered in an extremely heavy glass in what must have been an Imperial pint. Sweet molasses aroma, almost no head, dark brown with glints of red (in the right light). Slightly toasty/coffee taste, dark malt over a strong amber/crystal backbone. Molasses, fading to sugary sweet caramel-apple aftertaste. Thin body with light carb. Decent beer, not bad. Not terribly good either.

Had this one at Earl’s off Macleod Trail south Calgary for "pint & wings night" following an awesome 2 hour craft beer festival at Willow Park. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and the appropriate serving temperature. Dark chestnut brown, clear, with a rocky off-white head generating fine lace. Chocolatey and vinous aroma with a definite note of dark cherries. Mildly fruity and nutty chocolate malt flavours, medium-bodied (but not TOO thin), semi-sweet. Surprisingly good.

CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 21, 2006
(Draught) Wow... mediocrity in its finest form. This beer neither stimulates nor entices the senses. Arrives with a thin, brownish head and a deep red-brown body. Nose of mild roasted nuts. Very thin and watery. It took about 10 minutes to get this beer to a tasting temperature. A fairly poor showing. Bah Humbug! Sampled at Earls Victoria on December 21, 2006.

Dark brown with medium tan head. Aroma is chocolate and some light spice. Nice medium body with flavours of choclate, brown bread and a little caramel sweetness. Decent brew.
