Pours a deep brown with a large creamy/bubbly tan head that left tons
of spotty lacing. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, toasted malt, nuts, lightly roasted malt. Flavor of roasted almost charred malt, earthy, smoke, lingering hop bitterness and kinda thin.

Tap at Spuyten a ways back. Aroma of coffee, mocha, lots of earthy hops, practically sticky smelling. Flavor is a bit metallic with lots of bitter coffee. Rather burnt and light-bodied. Odd, though not terrible.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Holy cow. Gross. Chemically, acid, trash, poop aroma, almost unbearable. The flavor is better, though it’s hard not to be. Mostly bitter, chalky, with a mild roast. Astringent. The aroma is so foul it makes this beer is nearly undrinkable.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Deep brown beer with a thin head. The aroma is strange. Sort of salty and beefy with a heavy over-extracted dark malt astringency. Heavy herbal hops and a harsh astringent bitterness. God, this is truly awful stuff. Thin bodied, astringent, bitter... meh.

Dark brown, clear, with a tan colored head. Roasted malt aroma, little bit of chocolate, tons of floral hops for a porter. Hops really take over the flavor. Personally, I enjoy the hop character, but it’s a little harsh when expecting typical porter flavors.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 blipp (3920) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - MAY 26, 2009
Draft. Pours dark brown with a beige head. The aroma has roasty and sweet malts with quite a bit of floral hops. The flavor is hoppy for a porter, floral, almost grassy. Roasted malt and dark chocolate as well. Bitterness lingers through the finish. Very good.
