COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
I took your year-round favorite, Big Hop IPA and did a little something special to it to celebrate the September hop harvest. There’s a small window where I can get fresh-picked, undried, green, hops to toss into the kettle, and I jumped on it. These “wet hops” provide a truly unique flavor and aroma, almost like the smell of freshly cut grass – if your lawn was completely planted with American hops! Available starting in October and lasting until it’s all gone.

Pale yellowy orange color. Aroma of hops but very subdued. Not nearly as hoppy as I was hoping.

Poured from growler. Hazy, medium-dark amber with a 4-finger khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of citrus, caramel, pine and herbal hops. Taste of caramel, citrus, vanilla, herbal hops and pine. Draft at mad mex north hills. Pours orange with a big white head. Not much on the nose. Slight hop note on the nose. Slight hop bitterness on the finish. I was pretty bored by this one.

FH IPA Fest 2012, Malt bomb, no real hops here, just malty bread flavors, perhaps its old or something but why bring this to a beer fest?

Growler. Pours a cloudy orange with a thick, foamy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, sharp citrus, grassy hops, a touch of pine, and spicy hops. Flavor of malt up front with spicy and garlicky hops in the finish as well as a touch of citrus and some perfumy hops. Great hoppy harvest ale! A nice blend of malt and spicy hops and it’s great fresh out of the tap! 8/4/8/4/14 [3.8/5]

Draft taster from the East End tasting bar in the Pittsburgh Public Market in the Strip District. This one was marked "Big Hop Harvest." Pours a somewhat cloudy orange with a small off-white ring for a head. Notes of grassy, leafy, earthy hops, caramel and pale malts, and wet hay. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a wet, earthy mouthfeel. Hits the note it tries to hit, a wet hop harvest ale, right on the nose.

Goodness gracious! I was definitely not expecting this. In fact, I haven’t tasted anything like it. What a unique wholesome, bready, satisfying beverage. I’m going to get a growler tonight.

Deep copper color with minimal head. Nice citrus and earthy hop aroma. Well balanced, pleasant hop character. An excellent IPA.
