Big Hop IPA – the first of the brews from Pittsburgh’s newest and MICRO-est microbrewery to hit the streets. Truly, a hopped-up American IPA with loads of Centennial and Cascade hops, and just barely enough malt backbone to balance it out. Our flagship brew.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2013 Pours a pale yellowish orange with a white head. Piney hop aroma. Not so huge of a hop aroma. Still decent though. Kinda overly bitter and a dry finish. An easy drinker. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

hazy burnt gold. 1 finger off-white head.Aroma is mild on this one, fairly dank with juice and pine and some mango. Hey, this is pretty darn good. Crisp, very light with a great hop balance, sweet without being cloying, good doughy malt character. very well done.

On tap at Industry. Pours a cloudy orange with medium frothy off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong pine, dank, resin. Medium body, grapefruit, pine, lingering bitterness, very good.

Orange to reddish pour, very clear, under a huge foamy head. Aroma is sweet with a bit of orange. Very estery. Medium bodied. Taste has some caramel in there along with some grain and cereal. The hops are mostly piney, but kind of muted. Dry finish. Lace present.

Can thanks to mdg. Nose is forward with lemon citrus and a faint malt presence, mostly bread and hay. Can is green with red letters. Taste is hop forward with an almost herbal note, definitely earthy first and then a touch of citrus. Quenching finish. Solid.

Can from a sixer purchased at East End. Clear gold pour with a thick white head. Aroma of malt, florals, lemon and pine. Malty flavor with floral hop character before a bitter, piney hop finish.

Pint at Pramanti Bros. The beer looks great, Amber and hazy. Tastes like a standard IPA, hoppy with some citrus and grass. Feels great on the pallet and really cut through the corned beef sandwich that accompanied it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at East End. Kind of an old school East Coast brewpub IPA. Massive foamy off-white head. Almost a ringwood yeast thing going on. Not so impressive for 2014.

Tap at Silky’s in Pitt. Dark copper with a multi-lacing head and big hop nose with watery caramel. Green hops throughout with medium bitterness and sweetness to match, spicy and crisp but also heavy and filling. Full body, dries out a touch to sticky, faint graininess. Fresh but doesn’t stand out.

Had this at Primanti Bros. in Pittsburgh. Medium orange color with 1 finger head, caramel malts, citrus hops, refreshing, little sticky mouth feel.
