3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 corby112 (1904) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 4, 2009
Pours a cloudygolden orange amber color with golden yellowish burnt orange hues when held to a light siurce and a one finger foam white head that quickly dissipates.
Earthy dank oily hop aroma with a very nice citrus presence, dry pine, alcohol and sublte malt. Hints of orange peel and grapefruit really come through as welll as some other light fruit, mostly strawberry. Biscuit graham cracker malt presence is there but pretty subtle.
Chewy resinous thick mouthfeel. This is a very bgi beer and much thicker than I expected or prefer. Lots of alcohol heat throughout and especially in the finish. It’s only 9% but the ABV is not very well masked. Dry pine hop presence up front with a very sweet citrus peel presence midpalate. Lots of orange peel and grapefruit. Biscuity caramel malt backbone provides decent balance but overall there is a lot of alcohol astringency and bittery earthy dry pine hops.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 zebracakes (1340) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 18, 2009
Out of one of those bottles with the flip top thingy. Thanks to aliendan!
Pours opaque caramel. Aroma is malt, crispy hops. I can’t tell you anymore because I finally caught a cold, after 6 years of being un-sick. I can’t smell much right now.
Taste is: super crisp, leafy, meaty w/o peat and w/o syrup. The type of bitterness in this beer is the kind I value highly in IPAs.

Big long neck swing top........Pours a cloudy orangish-light yellow hue. Smell of hops, definetly not simcoe or centennial but none the less a nice crispy ipa. Not quite a double but in between. It says dont cellar, but I m going to let the other bottle sit up two weeks and see what I get.

A3 nice murky gold liquid but minimal
Head
S8 lots of hop with little malty background, seems to lean west coast which by all means is a good thing.
T8 see scent
P3 I would like this to have a little more carb behind it
O16 another great entry and one I hope becomes more than a one off

This poured a nice hazy orange color with a small off white head. Aroma is bready, some sweetness, lots of bittering hops, and alcohol. Flavor was upfront very bitter hops, some notes of grapefruit, a bit grassy, mellowed out by malt sweetness but not syrupy, and finishes out with a slight alcohol burn.
