Growler. Pours a dark, yet transparent burnt caramel color with a very thick creamy tan head. Good malty nose of dark fruit, like rasins. Spices and a hint of apple. A nice malty flavor in the mouth. A dry caramel flavor with some fruity esters from the yeast. Some raisin spice as well. Medium bodied. This was a huge difference between this and when I tried it at Sharp Edge a few weeks ago.

Had a sample of this at the brewery and was coming home to rerate and saw I never rated this is the first place. This is a great dubbel. This used to be my favorite style and this beer reminds me why. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel and brown sugar. Pour was a medium brown with a nice 3 finger tan head. Taste was a tad vinuous with strong raisin, yeast and caramel/molasses in the front and a warming aftertaste. Great beer.

Shared at the Cleveland tasting. Not sure who brought it. Sorry! I love the name! Very clever. I just love belgians these days and I find it hard not to like any of them. Pour was brown/amber. Smelled like plums. Taste was sweet caramel, raisins, bananas. Pretty decent!

Oh yes, oh yes, this stuff is cool right from the start! Mildly fruity fragrance, that comes across mouth watering. Attractive dark brown with an alabaster head. Very good tingly carbonation without being excessive. Taste is rather unique and enjoyable, a very nice beer that is fun and friendly. I really enjoyed this brew, even more than the monkey boy. This beer is a good example of a true Belgian dubbel, unlike so many other american Belgie dubbels, this stuff is really refined and does justice for the style. Way too often I am insulted by american brews that are classified on this site as a dubbel but then I find out they are just high alky brews that are terribly medicinal bitter and let their alky show thru. Nice one Scott! This really hides it’s alky content well! Would never know this is above 5%! East End is a pro when it comes to making brews that can be easily classified as session. Borders on Corsendonk Pater and Bornum Dubbel!
