Flip top bottle from Beerman6686. Thanks! Deep brown color; pours with a tan foam on top that settles as a thin layer. This one is all about the coffee. Lots of roasted coffee grounds and sooty ash in the aroma with some bitter unsweetened dark chocolate joining those two in the flavor. The body is fairly full and silky smooth going down. The bitterness and roasty notes are countered well by some caramel malty sweetness. This is a pretty straightforward Porter but itís very well crafted and tasty.

Big olí flip-top. Poured deeper brown with a tall, nice-looking smoked beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter, lightly-roasted coffee, toffee, and lesser biscuity notes.. soft overall, and I loved the coffee they used in there.. a bit earthy. The flavor found the same sweeter, earthy coffee throughout.. just a little bitterness and sour, ripe coffee beans around.. more coffee stuck on the long, tasty finish. Medium-bodied and fairly well carbonated on the palate.. well-balanced and tasty.. not the most complex brew in the world, but Iíd drink it any night.

Dark brown, essentially black, loose big milk chocolate foam. Aroma is sharp green coffee bean, very roasty, little backing sweetness. Taste is not as sharp, some chocolate alongside the coffee and the coffee isnít quite so green and sharp. Nice.

flip top shared at rbwg 3/5/11. darker than typical porter brown with a tan head. it stinks of vegetal coffee grounds.... sharp bitter roast!... along with chocolate, vanilla and green peppers. the flavor is similar... roasty grain, light sourness from the coffee, green pepper and bitterness near the finish. it is medium bodied but it feels a little shallow in the middle. 7/3.5/7/3/15

(1L fliptop bottle) dark brown with tan creamy head. Nose of fresh coffee, cream, wet coffee grounds, sweet nutella. Taste reminds me of old coffee however, cream, and a bit chocolaty. Wish it was just a tad fresher in certain areas. Medium thick body.

Bottle purchased at East End. Black pour with a thick tan head. Nose is strong in coffee with a bit of chocolate maltiness. Huge coffee flavor with chocolate malt and earthy hops. Not subtle, but tasty!

Thanks to JaBier for sharing a swingtop bottle. The beer pours dark brownish-black with a thin tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lace. Smells pretty much like a cold cup of coffee, plus a touch of malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter coffee character and notes of roasted malt. The finish is roasty coffee with a lingering bitter java aftertaste. Good brew overall.

Swingtop bottle from Caponeís, Norristown, PA. Nice thick oily pour with a medium head and fairly little retention or lacing. Nose is understated in bean terms, with subdued chocolate malts from the base beer blending nicely with the vaguely fruity Sumatran. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy. As with the aroma, the flavors boast fairly modest coffee but given that the base is a fine rich roasty porter on its own merits, things worked out fairly well.

Flip Top growler thanks to michaelpollack. Pours black. Tan head. Nose is freshly brewed coffee, vanilla bean and roast chocolate malt. Very rich and full nose. Taste is the same, but a bit muted. Body is on the thinner side, but still satisfying.
