SB (292), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2006 Tap to Growler. From growler. Poured dark, amber notes when held to the light. Bubbly white head. Aroma malty with hints of caramel and wood chips. Flavor sweet and malty. Hints of caramel, nuts and oak up front. Fruity plum notes in the end. Nice roasted aftertaste. Medium bodied. Easy to drink and very smooth. Great for late summer nights. My growler was gone before I knew it, easily the favorite of my group.
joshwilfong (537), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2008 dark brown with no head. very unattractive appearance. flavor is very bitter who without much malt flavor. awful beer michael-pollack (1489), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA May 25, 2008 Cask: Aroma of graham crackers, nuts, wood, malts, and moist potting soil. Poured very dark brown in color with a medium to large, thin, rocky, wispy, oatmeal colored head that lasted throughout. Good lacing. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of nuts, wood, malts, and some chocolate. Medium body. Chewy and chalky texture. No carbonation. Nutty and malty finish. ryan (1707), Beltsville, Maryland, USA May 11, 2008 Cask @ Zeno’s. Hazy brown body with no head. The nose is light with some raisins, dough and some caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet, light bitter with raisins, toffee and watery tea. Medium/light body is thin with light carbonation. acrdz (4406), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 8, 2008 Cask @ Zeno’s. Brown, no head. Mild nose of chocolate malt and bread, but it’s extremely faint and very bland smelling so it’s difficult to judge this one at all. Sadly the flavor isn’t any better - weak, pallid, empty, with a watery texture as well. Disappointing. kmweaver (2125), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Apr 5, 2008 Cask @ Zeno’s. Pours a slightly watery, dark brown color; minimal head with a perimeter of medium-sized bubbles. Basic tea and wet malts in the aroma; not a lot here at all. Basic, watery malts and a slight tea-like astringency; again, reserved and watery throughout; very bland brown. Medium finish, which shows more flavor than the rest of this: chocolate, saltine crackers, and some lingering tea.
