Bottle. Flat. Brown pour. Ugh, fruit, malt and sweet malt aromas. Flavors are light sweet, bitter and herbal tones.

2009 Bottle (Blue) : Lovely Bottle as you already know. Really though - The presentation is as good as it gets for an American brew Iím grateful to finally have a shot at this one - Itís been a long time in the making. Pour is murky mahogany with a modest khaki head into this glass - it fades fairly quickly, leading to a thin ring around the edge of the glass. The nose is caramel and spent grain, moving to feint sherry and there are general dark fruits present as well. The flavor profile is interesting - I didnít notice any inherent issues with this vintage at this point - I found that the brew really rounded itself nicely, actually - The malt bill has tapered off to be sure - whatís there is nice caramel , toffee, with sweet bread, there are brown sugar notes and plum, moving to more sherry and a touch of leather. Thereís just not a lot of depth here - but what is there is a nice experience.

MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: raisins, sweet, caramel, milk chocolate, alcohol, soft bitterness, dried fruits. Aftertaste: caramel, dried fruits, bitter hops, chocolate, mocha.

2009, blue wax. First off the presentation of this bottle is about the best I have ever seen. The beer is a dark amber, decently oxidized by now. Some sherry notes, leather, spices, cardboard, mint. It isnít the worst oxidized beer but it isnít knocking my socks off.

Obtained in a trade with AdamJackson. Thanks! 2010 Vintage. Incredibly gorgeous packaging. Bottle nr. 933/1500. Pours dark thick amber/orange with basically no head & little sign of carbonation. Smell is thick syrupy, herbal, marming, lots of dark fruits, thick sweet sugary malts. Taste is thick malt, herbal, rather bitter still with some old hops, tad milk chocolate, lots of milky old dark fruits, substantial malt. Little in the way of carbonation. Pretty decent but not overly impressive or complex, I expected a lot more here.

2010. Huge aged BW nose. Very promising. Even after 4 years this is lacking a bit of complexity, but otherwise a well rounded, easy drinking BW. Sticky fruits, marmalade and apricot, vanilla. Soft, warming finish. Very solid.

Hazy amber color. Lovely nose with lots of toffee, milk chocolate, burnt raisins and cherries. Sweet maltiness and a touch of sour. The mouth is very smooth, lots of milk chocolate, toffee, tootie rolls. Very warming in the finish. A really nice sipping and winter warmer.

Tawny pour. Slight off white head. Plenty of lacing. Sweet malt notes, dark fruit. Molasses. Taste is sweet and not as hot as I thought it would be.
