Bottle @ Hallinghansens US Tasting, Odense. 2007. Bottle 1413/1500. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Sweet malty nose and flavor. Winegums, caramel, toffee liquorice. Full bodied. Sweet , actually a bit too much. Cloying.

Bottle at hallinghansen grand tasting. 2007 edition. Pours hazy amber with a medium off white head. Quite hoppy and citric aroma with notes of sweet orange marmelade, caramel, butterscotch and toffee. The flavour is quite sweet and toasted with notes of sweet toffee and caramel. A very sweet barley wine indeed.

2009 blue wax sample at Central Waters anniversary party. Deep red-amber in color. Nose of fruit punch and sticky caramel and toasted malt. Huge, complex mix of light/dark/tropical fruit flavors, caramel malt, toasted malt, and residual sugars. Low to moderate hopping lets malt complexity shine. A very interesting brew.

Bottle @ Armin’s, courtesy of Armin. Fuck yeah, mofo! Thank you! 2009 version. Red orange appearance with a tan head. clove, Rich caramel malty, red fruity, toffee, rich sugary flavor but not super sweet. Super rich caramel malty, somewhat toasty, rich sugary toffee flavor. Fuck yeah!

Pour out of 2009 bottle, bottle number 1003/1500. Pour is dark red with nice lacing off white head. Aroma brings notes of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, hints of oak, hints of molasses, biscuit, some slight spice notes. Nice smelling. Taste is a mix of white grape, molasses, caramel, hints of oak and dark fruit, figs and earth in there finish a bit sweet still but wow,, this one is delicious.

2009 bottle. had this for a while now. this is definitely a tasty and well made barleywine. the aroma is really nice and enticing. nice pour with good carb. the flavor is well rounded with lots of dark fruits and heavy sugars. nice thick mouthfeel and finish. good stuff, very solid and drinks well. definiteyly a good one, wouldnt mind seeing a little bourbon in there.

75cl, at 11.3%Vol, Vintage 2010 (with indigo wax), Bottle N° 811/1500, exclusive American brew, thx to Wimenels!, very complex brew, sweet/alcoholic and slightly fruity/malty, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, small head, very good brew, but very expensive!, yet very original label

On tap at Capones during their Black Friday event - 2009. Amber with off minimal white head. Hops, barley and grains - not what I was expecting. Low carbonation, full bodied, amazingly long finish with honey and caramel. Looking forward to opening some bottles and spending some time with this one.

Draft at Capone’s with James, Andrew, Tony, and Eli. Pours a very transparent amber with absolutely no head. this was served to me at near room temperature but it still was good. Flavor is very caramel and drawn out. Very thin mouthfeel keeps it from really shining, almost watery. Not a bad barleywine. Had the 2009 version.
