Thanks to Kinz for sharing this beauty. Amazing aroma, nice caramel and malts. Good dark fruit accents and a slight hop hint in the aroma. Body is a nice ruby caramel color with very little head. Awesome taste, smooth and sweet. Nice plums and grapes with a hint of honey. Smooth and clean ending, not hot... which surprises me given the ABV. Great stuff.

Bottle courtesy of Kinz on 09/12/2009. This seems to be the 2007 bottle. Somewhat hazy dark brown body with a medium off-white head. Big caramel and light Belgian spice aroma. Sweet caramel. spice, and light molasses and floral hop flavor. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

750ml shared by Rustychiles at the AZ Black Friday tasting. Another one I’ve been wanting to try – thanks Rusty! Pours hazy brown with a thin beige head. The nose is toffee, brown sugar and floral hops. The taste is molasses, dark fruits and light citrus hops. Medium syrupy mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Bottle shared by rustychiles @ the Black Friday tasting...Thanks Rusty!!! This one held its own against some stiff competition (Ovation & Wooden Hell). 2007 batch that poured golden raspberry but left only the slimmest of white rings inside the glass. Very vibrant aroma with raisin, rich brown sugar, honey, and molasses being accompanied by bright hops. Surprising. Flavor is dark fruit, caramel, and cotton candy. Fairly syrupy and not high on carbonation but enjoyable.

i believe this was a 2007 bottle. shared by rustychiles on 11/27/2009. hazy chestnuty (the color not the food) brown pour with no head. smells like butterscotch candy.... caramel/toffee, grainy/malty, spicy and a little bit of an alcoholic burn. the palate is on the too sweet side with little to help balance things out... flavors of grain, brown sugar, spice, booze and meh. it has a spiced finish but not tinged with alcohol but it is nowhere near enough to make this work for me. the body is on the full side... sticky for sure. it would become hard to drink really fast. 7/4/6/2/14/3.3

’06 bottle at 12/19 Pgh tasting thanks to scott!
Somewhat ashamed to admit this is the first time I’ve tried it. Murky tan with a yellow head. Nose and flavor both reminiscent of Thomas Hardy in the tea and wood notes that give way to a malt dominance, yet the balance keeps it from becoming too sweet. The ’06 is excellent at the moment, so I imagine the vertical will be quite nice.

Bottle 686/1500 of 2007:   Deep amber, very rich and vibrant, large frothy sand colored head, fairly nice lacing.   Sweet malty nose, has a bit of candyish citrus peel and chocolate covered cherry.   Has this tootsie roll pop sweetness, like the candy shell.   Definitely on the sweeter side, malty, with a soft hop aspect.   Backside has a bit of that tootsie roll chocolate sweetness.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   As it warms it gets even sweeter.   Can get a bit cloying, especially if snacking on something sweet.   Recommended having this one at a bit colder temps.   Very unique, thankfully not a hop bomb, but a bit sweeter than I would have preferred.   Glad I have another bottle to share tho!   Thanks to Hophead22 and Treyrab for both sending me a bottle.

First off, this is the sexiest bottle out there. Paper bag wrap, beautifully designed, yellow wax. Awesome and very unique. Pours a deep brown. Nose is dark fruits, raisin, plum, toffee, caramel, earthy hops. Flavor is mild chocolate, plum, raisin, dark ripe cherries, earthy mustiness. Very very nice. Need to score more of this one.
