Sampled at pre-sex A: Pours a dark black with a tall foamy head. Pretty good retention with some lace. S: Very charred aroma to the point of almost being acrid. Burnt coffee, smoke, and booze. T: Overly roasted flavors as well. Bitter chocolate, very deep roasted malt, coffee that has been on the burner all day. Sort of earthy with a slight sourness that I assume is a result of all the roast this one had. Boozy bourbon and light oak. M: On the fuller side of body, bold, a bit too much to be honest. D: Not drinkable at all, though I donít think drinkability is what they were after with this one.

Boycott-Breaking-Bottle, courstesy of Nate, March 10 tasting. Big, foamy head, tan and clingy. Black and thick. Meaty, roast, oak and chocholate. Watery mouthfeel, roast, astringent bitterness. Tastes like eating Black Patent malt. Meaty and mildly oaky.

From bottle. Smoky and rich, meaty with bitter roasted malt, light sweetness, chocolate, coffee. Phenolic with some woody character. Light bitter hops. Dark, dark black clear with tan foamy-rocky lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts fairly dry with tons of roasted barley and smoky burnt malt taste. Bitter, bitter finish with chocolate, coffee, and licorice. A little burnt rubber with very dry bitter finish and after.

Dark pour with a thin tan head. Aroma is very strange: light adhesive and vanilla. Flavor is oaky with notable hint of vanilla, roast and chocolate. Finish is warm

1L swingtop bottle vintage 2008 via trade thanks to ericwo on BA. Shared at a tasting with a grip of other mostly BA people. Pours black with a fairly large tan head that lasts a long time. Aroma is heavy on the coffee and roast, with some cocoa, bourbon, and sweet toffee poking through. Flavor is black patent malt city, very roasty and charred tasting - was this a collaboration with Kingsford? Still I like it a lot. Bitter dark chocolate, bourbon, wood, coffee, and toffee are also in there, making it pretty complex. Palate is very dry and charry with medium body. Great beer overall, underrated.

2009 vintage shared by Jason. The beer pours to a black body with a tall foamy dark brown head. The aroma is sweet black licorice and yeast with black patent malts. The flavor is black patent malt with licorice and some heavy yeasts. The palate is difficult to drink. Very charred.
