3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
1 liter flip top bottle. Poured a dark black color with a larger sized tan head. Aromas of wood, vanilla, earthy, and some coffee. Tastes of wood, roast, lighter chocolate, dark fruits, earthy, and vanilla. I was getting the woody and vanilla, but the bourbon was almost non-existent. Lightly thin body but nice and smooth. Light lacing left on the glass.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by notalush. Pitch black beer with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma is quite rich and deep. Big cocoa and chocolate with a touch of roastiness. The flavour is lightly salty with a little bit of lean pale malts in the back. The flavour is less substantial than the aroma would have suggested. A touch of woodiness with a lingering toasty dryness.

1L 2010 ed. Pour is fairly deep black with a thin, reddish mocha head. Little retention and lace. Aroma is fairly nondescript - oak, light spices, not much bourbon. Taste is lemony tart, thin, watery, light char and spicy oak. Really void mostly. Dusty, dry palate.
