COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Six local artists have conspired with this local brewery to bring you Illustration Ale, a limited edition, 700 bottle run of a one-time East End brew. Each bottle bears handiwork of one of the six different artists who contributed to this project, and two bucks from the sale of each bottle will go directly to Pittsburgh’s very own Toonseum! Illustration Ale is a bottle conditioned beer, with a rich dark malt character, spicy and nuanced, but without any actual spices added. That all comes from careful handling of our Farmhouse ale yeast. If you decide not to frame this bottle, you can carefully remove the label and return it to the brewery to collect your deposit. Or better still, bring it back and put it toward your next liquid art purchase.

Pours dark brown with garnet edges topped by a thin khaki head. Smells similar to some of the finest trappist quadrupels. Spicy, cherry, dark fruit, and woody esters. Taste is similar but a bit spicier than the nose. Full mouthfeel with stinging carbonation and a bit of an alcohol burn. Quite a tasty beverage!

Bottle purchased at East End last August. Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of malt, banana and sweet caramel. Malt and caramel flavor with less of a banana character and more of a grape one (kind of like trappist yeast) before a dry finish.

750ml from the brewery. Off garbage tones in the aroma. Deep brown unfiltered body. Brown sugar Belgian Brown Ale. Leathery brown sugar. Not so good. The aroma kills it.

I believe this bottle was several years old. Dark copper pour with one finger of sudsy tan head. Candy and dark fruit in the nose, odd esters, rusty, yeasty, and weird. Over carbonated. Doughy and yeasty with a vitaminy note. Not a fan.

FROTHINGSLOSH (6630) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 10, 2015
Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a red-brown color with orange highlights and a large foamy beige head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was cherry, plum, boozy, almost medicinal and had a burnt caramel note. The flavor was boozy, black cherry, fig, plum, a touch medicinal, faintly smoky and had a bit of burnt caramel. Very long finish. Medium body. Odd but interesting.

Good beer... You may see this in a different label. This 2014 batch was better than the 2013, that’s for sure. Great flavor, great body... Good beer.

Candy aroma. Interesting leather on typical EE yeast. Doesn’t seem to be near 10% but fer sure you know there’s alky in thar. On tap at the bocktown. Quite unique, on the up side of the bell curve.

Great flavors of dark fruits. Great Belgium spices. Tastes in the style of the dubble. Down fall is in the body, plays out a little thin.

750 ml bottle thanks to Dan. Pours a dark ruddy brown color with a medium white head. A rich fruity nose, some caramel. This beer is a lot like Rochefort; spices, dark fruit, toffee, chocolate, very yeasty. The malt profile is just huge, and it has toasted malts, almost brown malt flavors. Deep dark fruit and candy. Quite good.
