tap @ boulevard grill in johnstown,pa .. . pours a light yellow orange .. low head, light lacing .. . surprisingly flat mouthfeel .. . mild lemon and hay .. . a rare miss from east end .. . . so, I’m trying to do something unnatural, and they don’t really understand it, but they’re very upset about it.

Pours hazy and golden with a proportionate head size. Very nice mouth feel and a crisp finish. One of Pittsburgh’s best offerings.

On tap at Capones. Pours a very cloudy straw yellow color. Barely any head or lacing to note. Aromas of clove, german malt, orange peel, fruity esters, and bannana. Taste is a light yeast, wheat bread, dry fruits with mostly bannana coming through, some other german spice. Smooth refreshing palate with a dry finish in the mouth. Very good hefe.

12 oz. Draft at The Library. A decent wheat. Hazy golden pour with a big frothy head, quick to dissolve to a film. A little less than medium palate. Banana note, spice, clove.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2013 This beer tastes a lot like your typical wheat beer. Blue moon-ish. On tap at a bourbon bar.

Multiple pints served from a 1/2 barrel at reception at Pittsburgh Glass Center. Poured hazy yellow with fluffy white head. Bananas and clove flavor. Rather thick and yeasty.

Draft from the brewery. I’m always torn about this one. It’s just not quite what I’m looking for in a hefeweizen, seems to be a tad high in alcohol and tending more towards a weizenbock in my general opinion. It is straight up hefeweizen in pour and appearance, but the cloves, herbs, and again alcohol just come on a bit strong in my opinion.

Hazy golden color in the glass with minimal head. Smooth mouthfeel, nice wheat notes with a hint of citrus and spice.

Ruddy brownish orange. From growler. Big spice, clove, banana, and grassy hops in the aroma. Flavor is nutty and grainy. Brings a nice english element to the german hefe. Still retains the clove and dried banana chip. Good
