Really not the style, still an enjoyable ale. Bottle from Capone’s. Big lace. Hoppy ale, with signs of dry hopping. A sweet finish and a nice palate cleaner.

GT2 (8687) - San Diego County, California, USA - MAY 11, 2013
750mL. Clear tea amber pour with yeast floaties. Weak head formation. Nose is nutty, hoppy, mild maple, dark cherry, prune. Taste is again quite hoppy for style, even piney, mild maple, orange candies. A bit medicinal with spruce, pine, orange cough syrup. Not cloying or sticky, quite the hop bomb for style. More in the imperial red category than Old Ale.

Bottle shared by Noodleuser: pours a clear dark copper amber with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a fresh resiny hoppy nose with lightly sweet biscuity malty notes. Starts with pretty good fullness and sweet dark caramel notes with a smooth grassy hoppy bitterness before a drier bittersweet finish.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5045) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 25, 2011
Sampled from a 25 oz brown bottle this beer poured a slightly hazy caramel color with no head and no lacing. The aroma was caramel. molasses and faint vague fruity hops. The flavor was toasted sour caramel, light tobacco, wood and a bit of nut. The finish was long tangy nut, caramel and tobacco. Fairly full bodied but somewhat undercarbonated. Ok.

Bottle shared by Noodleuser. Poured a dark brown color with a touch of wispy white head. Aroma had some spice - notes that were some toasted malts. Plenty of caramel notes. Not at all!

Beerman6686 (4596) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 26, 2011
This poured a murky medium brown color with hardly any head at all when poured completely vertical, definitely lacking carbonation. Aroma was of sweeter malt, caramel, some toffee, dusty hops and light cardboard. Flavor was very sweet and caramel like, some toast and dark fruits, somewhat full bodied, but still a little flat. Eh.
