dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 26, 2008 Courtesy of Nate, shared with he and Naka. Pours golden/yellow with a small, rimming white head; slim and fizzy. Clear. Nose is of sweet malt and sour apple and pear. Taste is apple, sweet malt, pear, a touch of spice. Dryness at the end wit ha touch of bitterness. Nice tripel. Smooth and tasty. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 23, 2008 Shared w/ Nate and Juart, courtesy of Nate. Clear deep golden color and a thick foamy white head. Good lacing. Spicy yeast with coriander and a fruity sweetness, yet has some bitterness as well. Taste pretty similar to aroma, only sweetness is more like honey. I really like the touch of bitterness in this. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 22, 2008 From 1L bottle. Super aroma, with yeasty bubblegum and coriander. Lightly spicy with some nice bitter floral hoppiness. Orange peel. This has the aroma of a truly styled Belgian tripel - wouldn’t be able to tell this was brewed in the US. Butterscotch amber hazy body with a thin off-white lacing head. Medium watery body, slightly thick, with medium carbonation. Goes down extremely easy. Starts with a perfect balance of sweet malt, honey, funky yeastiness, and light chalky coriander and bitter funk. Chalky bubblegum. This is a great tripel with authentic profile. Nice job, Scott. mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 10, 2008 1L bottle courtesy of cheapdark at Pittsburgh gathering on 1/27/08. Pours a hazy bright yellow, nice fluffy stark white foam and good retention. Aroma is a big on the banana, eh, some earthy hop aroma is buried somewhere under the banana, somewhere. Flavor is fairly sweet for the style, dries out nicely in the finish though. Alcohol is very nicely hidden. michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 10, 2008 1L Bottle: Aroma of spices, nutmeg, herbs, grass, and yeast. Poured golden-orange in color with a large, rocky, fizzy, white head that shrank but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of medium-sized particles. Excellent lacing. Flavor is full of spices. Tastes of spices, nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, and candi sugar. Medium body. Dry texture. Lively carbonation. Dry, spicy finish. Overall, better than I expected. Lots of nice spice. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 31, 2008 Scott, you make some great interesting beers, most of them are session able! Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 1/27/2008 Pittsburgh ratebeer.com gathering and festival upstairs, Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I am invited again and I see a spread of bottles like I did there - ever again. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we sampled! For example, how about this beer; three! Very sweet almost saison in aroma, perfumy to an extent. Cloudy pale yellow. Has a feel of wine to it. Barely any detectable carbonation, but it’s there. Not over the top on the alky side but the alky level of 9% is certainly kickin. Leaves a warming sensation as it goes down the gullet. Thanks for the chance to taste this rare beer. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 28, 2008 Nice tripel. Aroma of grass and light fruits with a hint of spiciness. Pour was a light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was strong and alcoholic. Heavy apple, peach and spice flavor with a bitter dry aftertaste. Could pick up some candy sugar in and out. Nice carbonation. I’ll put this up against many Belgians. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Jan 28, 2008 Bottle sampled at the Ratebeer meet-up 01.27.08 at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse. Beer courtesy of cheapdark.
Opaque gold, white head. Aroma is banana, citrus, nutmeg, coriander. Flavor is banana, bitter hops, walnut (?), alcohol. Could stand to be more balanced.
