Commercial Description:
East End TOASTER is our 4th Anniversary beer, an imperial version of Black Strap Stout. It is the thickest stuff we have ever brewed here - just wait until you see how it colors a glass. It will be wearing a brand new label by brand new label artist Tracey Ryan who has rapidly cranked this out in the midst of a holiday crush.

Pours like used motor oil. No seriously, I spilled some on my hand and had a hard time getting it off!!! This beer has the darkest head that I’ve ever seen, or remember seeing. Aroma is super piney, molasses, smoke, meat, coffee, anise, dried flowers. A lot of scents going on here! Flavor is as complex and very heavy and oily; has a nice bitter/malt finish. Damn. Even after washing my hand, it still smells like this beer! Potent stuff! Be careful ;)

Bottle:   Blacker than night, very viscous pour, moderate to large frothy brown head, decent lacing.   Aroma of roasted malt and hops, fairly straight forward.   Moreso on the hop side.   Rather roasty on the tongue, good hop bite, feels a little astringent and chalky.   Warming too.  Nothing fancy, just a big stout.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Has a touch of pine on the finish.   Well built, tasty, but nothing fancy.   Thanks Trey!

I dont know why i loved this beer so much, but i did. Showed up in the standard beeradvocate "no picture a" growler. Just looks cool. Poured a dark chocolate brown. Nose was rich with roasted grain, cold press coffee. Taste was very dry for the style. lots of roasted character, nice bitter coffee without being acidic, not your standard imperial stout and i love them for that. in a style that everything seems to taste very similar this one really stands out. It reminds me of FFF black sun on steroids.

Brewed in the USA... Pours black like motor oil with a super foamy mocha head that dissipates in a few minutes. Aroma of molasses, dark chocolate, roasted malts and a hint of smoke. Taste is similar to the aroma with the addition of dark roasted coffee. The mouthfeel is semi thick in body with a slick oily feel on the tongue. The 10% is well hidden, and there is a lingering dry bitterness at the finish. Overall, a pretty nice Imperial Stout !!! :)

1L bottle. Pours an extremely dark black body with a great intensely dark brown head that had very good retention for such a big Stout. Very viscous looking. Thick roasty nose with lots of molasses, espresso, dark bakers chocolate, burnt caramel, surprisingly little alcohol, and just a touch of brine. The flavor is very thick and full but not over the top with the sweetness or the alcohol at all. Very roasty without the acrid bitterness of many similar beers, nice caramel and molasses sweetness towards the back end. There’s a touch of alcohol apparent on the finish along with a bit of warmth as it slides down the chest, but it’s not hot. Thick viscous mouthfeel with a palate coating lingering finish. Perfect soft gentle carbonation. This was really surprisingly good I thought. I didn’t have a problem with drinking the whole bottle myself at all.

Appearance is black oil, thick as hell pouring with little carbonation and only a crown of mocha head. Smell is strong with chocolate, toffee, and cream. You can tell how strong this brew is from the nose. Taste is similar to smell with a hint of smoke and a definite warming sensation to compliment it’s thick body and low carbonation. Drinkability takes a slight hit because it is rich and high in alcohol. I would absolutely get it again, but I’d struggle to drink more than a pint at a time. Another winner from East End.

Bottle generously shared by MrBunn. Thank you sir. Pours a delicious black and dark tan head. Smell has Centennial hops, chocolate and something that eludes me at the moment. taste has a medicinal edge to it, some vanilla, cocoa, and piney hops. Palate is smooth and inviting but the taste is lacking a bit somewhere.
