2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask at The Bow Bells, Mile End, London, £3.90/pint.
Hazy mid-amber pour with a thin, off-white head. The nose has a fair bit of depth with (over)ripe tropical fruit, basement aromas and a definite booziness to it, promising a complex beer that the taste fails to deliver. It reality the fruitiness came through a little oversweet and pleasant grainy bitterness was overshadowed by buttery character. Perhaps it wasn’t in the best condition but not one I enjoyed very much.

Bottle. My first from this brewery and an impressive start. Golden and clear. Small head and slightly fruity Finish is a subtle bitterness. For a four percenter this is hitting well above its weight.

500ml bottle from ales by mail. Hazy pale-amber in colour with a lasting, thick and creamy white head. Toasty and light caramel aromas and a touch grassy. Initial sweet and malty flavours before hops and subtle bitterness come through. Nice, easy drinking pale.
