500ml bottle from Oddbins London Bridge. Black beer with lasting tan head. Lots of coffee on this. Quite a tasty stout. Last beer of a Friday evening tasting and certainly a good finishing beer. Full in mouth but not alcoholic. Decent coffee stout.

Kauge (410) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 30, 2014
Transferring some earlier reviews from my blog to RB. Aprill 2014, joogipood Broadway Marketil (£ 2,99), 50 cl. Üliilus kujundus - vähene kuld süsimustal taustal, taga valgega käsitsi kirjutatud parim enne ja pisike kuldne humalabukett, kork must, jook sees näib samuti must. Valades tumepruun, kastanine, vaht tumekreemikas, kaob kiirelt.

Sampled on draught at the King’s Arms, Waterloo. Almost black in colour with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts. Sweetish flavours with caramel, coffee, blackberry and slight vanilla notes. Some hop taste, but really very little bitterness to balance the sweetness. Quite creamy, smooth and mouth-filling, but just a little sweet. Not unpleasant, but could be better balanced with more emphasis on the bitter elements.

Black body, light brown head. Aroma has winous berries, roasted malt, berries. Flavour is quite berryful, feels like something is missing here. Very acidic and rancid maltiness. Really odd and bit off but still interesting.

Half pint, cask at Earl of Essex, Islington. A faint tan-coloured head to a devil-black body. Cocoa powder on the nose, semi-dry. Blended flavours of oat, coffee, chocolate and earth. Slightly roasted towards the ending. Well bodied. Tasty stout (London 23.09.2014).

Pitch black, huge frothy head, over carbonated
Aroma of dark fruits, got a sour note straight away, not good
Taste of dark malts, sour dark fruits, some burnt roast, poor flavour, not right
Palate - Moderate carb, thin to medium body, soft sweet, sour. Finish has some bitter roast, bit metallic
Overall - Massive head when it poured, over carbonated, sour, tasted awful. Thrown out.

Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Near black with a dense beige head. Aromas are blackberries and dark cherry with earthy coffee. Some cream with some tart funkiness. Dark chocolate with floral aspects. Flavours are creamy with sweet berries and slightly funky yeast. Earthy roast malts with herbal notes. Dry on the finish with some grapefruit bitterness. Decent.

Scopey (7692) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2014
Cask at Gunmakers. It pours darkest browb, nr black with a minimal tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, coffee, earth, toast and treacle. The taste is smooth, roasty, toast, big coffee aspect, treacle and charred wood with a short, roasty finish. Medium body and low carbonation. A bit flat unfortunatly, but decent coffee aspect anyhow. Decent.
