Hbie (133), Essex, England Jan 14, 2005 Cask on gravity at Chelmsford Winter BeerEx. Black with cream white head. Lots of flavour from roast malt bitter chocolate stightly sour. A good porter.
Rune (1649), Tromsø, Norway Sep 2, 2008 Half pint, hand-pulled cask at GBBF. Appealing, dark-ruby body. Missing head. Coffee malt to the nose. More taste of coffee in flavour supported by anise and silky chocolate. Underlying alcohol hints. Quite well made porter with a pleasant palate (shared with Geir, 08.08.2008). fonefan (4439), Ulfborg, Denmark Sep 1, 2008 Handbottle @ [ Tasting by Maria ]. Unclear medium red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, coffee, licorice, peat notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to ’medium to full’, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (170608) oh6gdx (5901), Vaasa, Finland Aug 22, 2008 Cask@GBBF2008. Deep amber colour, small creamy brown head. Aroma is coffee, smoked wood, some roasted malts, vanilla and mild alcohol. Flavour is roasted malts, dark fruits, smoked wood and peat. All in an excellent balance. Maria (3975), Thisted, Denmark Jul 3, 2008 Courtesy of Cgarvieuk. Handbottled. It’s a hazy black-brown porter with a red hue and in spite of the handbottling also a small, creamy head. The aroma has notes of licorice and a little coffee. The mouthfeel is rather oily. The flavour has notes of licorice, bitter coffee, light peat-smoke, a light sweetness and the finish has hints of salty licorice. It’s a very nice porter. Ughsmash (2996), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 Many thanks to Craig for the handbottle! Poured clear deeper brown with a nice cap of beige head. The aroma found darker chocolate with a bit of licorice.. pine and fresh coffee grounds accented.. everything came together remarkably well! The flavor had a dark chocolate, coffee, and sticky miscellaneous black malt base accented by a nice blend of darker spices.. the sides were laced with greener pine and herbal bitterness.. tasty! Medium-bodied and well-balanced on the palate.. roasty with lower carbonation.. very good!
