Cask on gravity at Chelmsford Winter BeerEx. Black with cream white head. Lots of flavour from roast malt bitter chocolate stightly sour. A good porter.

Jun 27, 2009 Cask @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester. Pours a dark brown almost black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty caramel and coffee aroma. Roasted malty coffee flavor with some hints of caramel and licorice. Has a roasted malty coffee finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Jun 23, 2009 Cask-conditioned at Mr Foley’s Cask Ale House, Leeds 23/06/09. Dark mahogany with a slight tan head. Big caramel and coffee aroma. Flavour started with some sweet, milk chocolate before roastiness kicked in, leading to a warming alcohol and moderately bitter finish. Excellent.

Apr 1, 2009 Cask at Chelmsford Winter BF. Easy-drinking, smooth, roasty porter with a sticky hop-bitterness. Big flavor but you could drink it all day. Or you at least think you could.

Jan 29, 2009 Cask Real Ale 0.25L glass tasted at Gallows Bird. Tar and smoke in the nose. Dark black reddish colour. Dry slightly bluecheese taste. also some hints of coffee in the taste. No head.

Jan 25, 2009 (Cask at Gallows Bird, Espoo, on 2009-01-23) Black. Small tan coloured head. Smoke and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with little carbonation. Roastedness, smoke, liquorice, bitterness, coffee and slightly burnt flavours. Roasty long lasting aftertaste.

Jan 23, 2009 (Cask@Gallows, Espoo) Very dark brown with almost no head. Licorice-malty, somewhat roasty aroma. Roasty-burned-malty, smoky-tarry flavor with lots of licorice and some solventy alcohol. Medium, slicky body with no carbonation. Nice licorice, but somewhat spoiled by solvents.
