2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle 33 cl) A beautifully warm, reddish beer with a dense, off-white head. Unusual, spicy and sweet aroma. Full body, quite sweet with some burned caramel. And also some strange accents that mostly remind me of cough syrup. Subdued bitterness. An interesting and unusual beer, but I’m not sure if I actually like this. 211007

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear dark/brown almost rubis poor with a frothy beige head. Aromas of cental wood, roasted malts, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup and a nice bushy smell to it. Very sweet palate with a balanced bitter mouthfeel. Added orange flavors with a celery salt twist. Good effervescence and a medium body. Again very sweet but balanced enough to even things out.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (330ml). Via trade with Boutip. Poured deep clear ruby with a large, lasting, fizzy-foamy straw-coloured head. The main component of the aroma seems to be tart, almost sour fruity malt, with strong background sweetness, and and undertone of herbal/perfume hops. The taste follows, be less sour, more dry spice and yeast, the herbal hops move up to the front - almost has peaty character, and it’s very warming. Average body, strongly carbonated - the malt drops off quickly, but the background of tartness, spice and bitterness fills the gap nicely. By the end of the bottle I was looking around for more ...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cl bottle via Lubiere, served cold in a tulip glass. AU30/07.
App.: Deep copper, clear, huge tan head.
Aroma: Tangy and very herbal – reminds me a lot of cola or rootbeer, molasses and brown sugar, bright organic acids, full and luscious.
Palate: Medium body and medium effervescence.
Flav.: Much like the nose – plenty of herbal, sweet malts, a touch woody; fairly sweet and a touch alcoholic; leaves an impression of medium roasted malts, a touch of bitterness and just a touch of alcohol.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Poured a deep opaque brown color ale with a huge dirty white color foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma is comprised of candi sugar and doughy yeast with maybe some subtle note of maple syrup. Taste is a mix between candi sugar, doughy yeast some dry fruits and subtle maple syrup. Body is full with some great carbonation and no alcohol was detectable. I must admit that I enjoyed that one even though the maple syrup was not overly dominant.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Brown bottle, 33 cl, best before 21/12/11, savoured on June 18 2007; eye: ruby, voluminous coffee head that leaves a little carpet to protect the beer, clear, no effervescence, lots of lacing; nose: light malt, sweet (maple syrup), ginger, cinnamon, wood (oak), clove; mouth: in that order, syrupy, sweet, caramel, cannot taste the malt but can feel its presence, ashy, sweet finale in maple syrup with hints of hops, cinnamon, pepper and clove, creamy and sticky texture, quite sweet, slightly bitter, full body, not much carbonation; overall: fine but me and maple syrup beers just don’t get along… I guess you have to be from Québec to enjoy the irony

Had it on tap before now drinking from bottle brewed with maple sirop from Quebec. The sirup makes the beer too sweet. The color is brown
