BierSchneeman (10), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA Nov 8, 2007 This was supposedly the last beer rated by MJ for the Rare beer club...when presented people even asked MJ what he was thinking....but after trying it i whole heartedly agree with MJ this beer is even good enough to contend with New Glarus. the aroma was tart and very lightly sweet with a strong prune pie smell (like it had been spiced), the head was about a centemeter tall but quite lasting and opaque, the mouthfeel was on the high side of medium, thick and creamy but too much so..it was a little crisp and sharp (probably from the Legacy Plums) with a very smooth tart prune flavour. the colour was that of a brown red and opaque. this reminds me of a thin plum puree (minus skins) this was truely a phenominal beer even if it was a fruit... DocLock (4085), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2008 Thanks to my friend Jack Meoff for this (not his real name). The pour is turnid burnt sienna with ruby edges and a 2-finger tan head. Nose is heavy prune, candi sugar, dark malt, fig, cinnamon. Tastes like pure prune juice mixed with DFH Indian Brown ale, with hints of molasses, brown sugar, caramel, root cellary yeasty esters, and toffee. Rich palate, but toward the end it get s a bit too pruny, perhaps, and approaches pure prune juice in flavor. I loved this beer, a lot more than most, as it is a top-10 under-rated RB beer, but I go to bed sincerely hoping I don’t wake up with Montezuma’s Revenge. Cheers. and night-night, y’all. thewolf (3607), Kolding, Denmark Sep 10, 2007 Bottle @ OL i Aarhus. Pours a very muddy brown with a small beige film head. Okay lacing. Aroma is fruity with plums and prunes dominating over some caramel. Stunning, oily mouthfeel. Flavour begins lightly roasted, before going into a fruity sweetness. In the end there is a sharp fruity sourness to the prunes. Nice, nice brew! Ibrew2or3 (1685), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA May 14, 2008 Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours with slight haze and appears copper with a rose hue to go along with a thin off white head. The aroma is full with fruity sweetness of figs, cherries, sweet raisins and plums. The taste has some nice balance and doesn’t get overly sweet as the aroma was suggesting. Figs, prunes, cherries and sweet stewed raisins are balanced against mild fruit tartness and some lightly roasted malts. It ends dry and somewhat refreshing. Nice. goozen (740), Leiden, Netherlands Apr 28, 2007 Bottle 0,75ltr: A orange/brownish ale with they put plums in, maybe this will give its sweetish taste.
