PotjeBier (1597) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 24, 2014
Backlog. 33 cl bottle @ home, 2007 issue. Blonde color, cloudy. Huge head, but short retention. Aroma’s from the glass: sourish, infected, stinky cheese, weird; retronasal: Malty sweet, herbs/spices, something off. Flavor: moderate sweet with something strange herbal. Medium bodied. Finishes slightly dry and somewhat herbal bitter. Flavor was OK-ish, but the aroma was way off.

Geelkleurig troubel bier met weinig koolzuur. Smaak is fruit, appel en citroen. Smaak blijft redelijk lang hangen.

This is quite the unorthodox Christmas (and not only because its a blonde, which might be one of its best attributes). This Wallonian blonde pours in a cloudy light brown proving to be an unfiltered Belgian Ale. The carbonation comes bursting out with a light frothy head that dies down fast enough to let you enjoy the light fruity aroma. The flavor is mild as it the beer is obviously made up of pale malts. The traditional spices are not apparent on the tongue but linger in the after tone. If you are looking for a traditional X-Mas Ale, this is not the one, but instead this is an excellent beer year round!

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, golden colour with a big and dense, slightly cream-coloured foamy head. Yeasty and slightly sugary malty aroma with fruity notes of apricot, orange and lychee. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a rather calm carbonation. Fruity and biscuity cara-malty taste with exotic accents; moderately sweet and fruity also mildly spicy finish with hints of alcohol. 8.I.13
