2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 maekchu (167) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAY 17, 2012
Can. Light malty sweetness. Standard yellow with fat slow bubbles rising. Very grassy flavor with a hint of cardboard in mid palate, and a bit of bitterness at the end. Thin, very gassy, light body (rice addition). Okay, but doesn’t really have much character.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 larsga (4663) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 23, 2012
Medium offwhite head. Clear amber body with carbonation. Fruity earthy candy aroma with dusty yeasty bready notes. Dry-sweet fruity raisiny taste with citric strawy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish raisiny malt aftertaste with fruity resiny notes. Nice, drinkable, harmonic. Has some character. (0.35l can, from CitySuper IFC, Hong Kong.)

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 jgb9348 (3494) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - OCT 3, 2011
Clear golden coloured body with a thin off-white head that has a ton of very very small bubbles. Aroma of pale malt, light cardboard, some very mild fruit and a very very small amount of hops. Light-bodied; Sharp malty note with a touch of cardboard and alcohol, a touch of light hops and an otherwise mild finish. Aftertaste has a little earth, some light caramel, a few hops and mostly light malt coming through. Overall, not such a bad beer, rather mild, but showing a few nice flavours coming through. I sampled this 350 mL can purchased from City’Super! in Hong Kong (2 IFC location), SAR on 30-June-2011 (my birthday) for HK$18.00 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the planet on 03-October-2011.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 KyotoLefty (3760) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JAN 8, 2009
It claims to be patterned after North American ales, which I can understand, although the strong yeast character makes it somewhat reminiscent of a light Belgian ale as well. Decent hopping, although nothing like in a pale ale, with a strong very fruity yeast flavor and aroma. Decent malt bottom as well. Fruity, with yeast and malt predominately. A decent beer, good and easy to drink, though not wholly interesting or very original.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 CMUBEERMAN (421) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 12, 2007
Pours like a pale lager...though a lot of carbonation and a thicker head. Aroma is slightly sweet yeast and nothing else. Flavor is sugary and syrupy...not really much else...a bit of dry yeast and maybe a tad bit of grass. Body is actually semi creamy and much more thick than an average pale lager.
