Capa (718), Yokosuka, Japan Oct 18, 2007 Can. Clear yellow in color. Toasty malts, and some grassy hops. Flavor is similar to the aroma with a slight hop finish. Body is watery. This is pretty solid for a macro, but nothing too exceptional. MartinT (4307), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 26, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Authentic Bavarian grassy hoppiness wades through the tight but timid biscuity pale maltiness. Don’t let yourself be disappointed by the unassuming nose, there is a comfortable session beer here.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Cushiony effervescence works with the lean mouthfeel.
-A veil of foam tops the golden yellow.
-Some watery passages disappoint.
-If cohesion were improved, this would be a very good Pilsener.
On tap at Popeye’s. asheft (740), Marburg, Germany May 14, 2007 [on tap somewhere in Tokyo]
Noble hops (German?) with crips malt and a little oolong tea in the nose, but fresh. Clear, anemic straw with only wisps of fizz. Fairly sweet malt flavour that overpowers the fresh hops. Also needs more bitterness to have that characteristic pils crispness. Medium body, medium carbonation. larsga (2132), Oslo, Norway Apr 22, 2007 Medium white head does not last. Pale yellow body. No aroma. Light grassy hoppy taste, slightly sweetish. Very mild taste. Light dry papery aftertaste. It’s OK. (0.25l draft.) bluekuma (94), London, Greater London, England Nov 18, 2006 Can. A pilsener. Gold in colour with an initial rash of bubbles which soon settle. Vague, sweet malty nose.
Nice, juicy mouthfeel and clean, dry flavour with some fragrant hop presence. No world-beater this but I grew quite fond of it’s lagery charms.
