Bottle - This is a good stout, but doesn’t really offer anything unique. Typical roasted malt and chocolate nose. Alcohol well masked.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Well, I’m not going to over-analyze this but I will say that I was expecting a shitty brew and was pleasantly surprised. This a not bad stout, a tad sweet, but nicely roasty and creamy.

Clear black pour with thin tan head. Nose is Faintly roasted malts. Slighty oily watery body. Watery coffee notes. flat yet creamy roasted finish.

A very unique stout. Very dry and smokey. Black body and foamy tan suds. No aftertaste. This might be my first Japanese stout. - Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Smoky malt aromas. Rich and dark looking, but lightish body. Espresso, salty bitterness, soy sauce aftertaste. Not much sweetness or richness. A little underwhelming.

A 330 ml bottle from Legacy Liquor in Vancouver. A very dark, not quite black beer, with a bit of tan head. Heavily roasted malts on the nose. On the tongue there are obvious coffee overtones, but cocoa requires imagination. No fruit or hop noted. Slightly sweet, compared to, say, Guinness. A pleasant and very well balanced stout, but not exciting.

Looking back at my stats, this is the first plain "stout" I’ve had for over six months, which is unbelievable to me. Bottle. Dark brown, translucent almost opaque. Dissipating tan head. Nose is the usual chocolate/coffee with the former being dark and the latter being creamy. Flavour is same but a bit dusty. Fairly sweet, creamy mouthfeel, simple but just what the doctor ordered.

Nice aroma of dark fruits, but it turns to alcohol in no time. Appearance of a formidable stout, with a creamy head. Flavour of caramel chocolate, prunes, and it is a bit too acid and too alcoholic, none of the two features any subtle at all. Palate is more watery than one would want. OK, but way down the list.

Can from Liquor Mountain. It poured with lots of amber head, lightly carbonated with a malty/caramel aroma reminiscent of Guiness. It had a pleasent mouthfeel.

Bottle. This is one of my least favorite Japanese beers to date. I love stouts and this is thin, overly sour, and generally uninteresting.

Deep milk chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate, roasted nuts, mild bitter cappuccino finish. Surprisingly fine chocolate stout, slightly too sweet but works as a dessert on its own.
