John Harris and Stone brewmaster Mitch Steele (pictured) started talking about doing a collaboration in the summer of 2012. They met up at Ecliptic on January 24, 2014 to brew this special beer. Ecliptic is about space and Asteroids are Stones, so the name ties the two breweries together. Pale and wheat malts combine for a solid malt profile. Motueka hops were used for their citrus character. These combine with the sweet orange peel and coriander to lend a big rich fruity character. This Belgian yeast lends a spiciness and dry hopping in aging make a very drinkable beer with the bitter finish of an IPA.

White asteroid. A: Cloudy orange with a small white head. N: Orange peel, yeast, lemon rind, grapefruit, tangerine. Pine and earth aplenty. Some cotton candy. Huge fruit. S T: Citrusy, sweet, and some hop background. M: Sticky and heavy. No alcohol. O: Wow. I am impressed. Huge but balanced, and all flavors shine. Want more.

On tap. Colour...hazy gold with a thick white head. Nose...sweet, spicy, with butyl esters and banana ice cream. Palate...a burst of Bazooka bubble gum, lithe and supple with lemon creme, banana apekoppen, and banana moon pie. Mid palate is tart and dry and the finish is long and spicy.

Tap @ Ecliptic... Poured hazy, pale golden with a thick forming head. Aroma of spices, wheaten grains, vanilla, and spicy hops. Bitter and earthy with green hop flavors. Might malty, wheat tones too balance. Clean finish with mild esters but not too heavy on yeast spicing.
