2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2012
May 2009: Another beer from this brewery to trap Germans, labelling and wording in German. This was obtained in Skiathos and brought back to the UK to review. It was the second pils/lager in a tasting of 5 different brews, it came 3rd in the scoring, so a mid-table pilsner?
Half litre can with seven months life left when drank on a sunny afternoon in Shropshire (May 2009). Poured into a Veltins stemmed tulip glass and a vase shaped glass from the Watzdorfer brewery.
Mid golden colour, bright and clear, white head on both glasses of beer, looked a typical German Pilsner.
Very little aroma, but I always give a 3 for non-smelling pilsners/lagers, just to be fair.
This had a some flavour, it tasted like a pilsner should, crisp and clean with hints of hops, barley and yeast. Not much taste, but it did have one.
It was refreshing, but it lacked strength and depth.
I hot day drink, a holiday beer at best.
