2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at the Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. It pours clear golden amber with a small white head. The nose is toasty grain, wood, earth, light vanilla, rum and lemon peel. The taste is toasty, grainy, bitter, tropical fruits, wood, lemon, rum and cola with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Quite Innis & Gunnesque. Wish the base beer was better, as there is some decent fruity rum notes to it.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at home, bought at Clapham Foodie Fare. Very light pale amber, white foam head, some yeast and residue in the bottom of the bottle. Nose is lemon citrous, funky yeast, sweet rum, slight woodiness, vanilla oak. Bit sweet, grassy and there’s some corn in there too. Quite a lot of flavours. Not sure it’s balanced. Taste is like a lager or very light golden ale, lemony, light, some grain, grassiness, quite watery, and then some light rum and slight woodiness. There’s a bit of a funky, yeasty, slight saison element to this.
