Had this beer on-tap at Horniblow’s Tavern and took a growler home for myself and a friend coming over this weekend who is just getting into craft beer. Color was a light copper with a robust tan head. Aroma was biscuity with a slight citrus hint. Taste was pronounced malt with mild hop character to balance the brew and no more. I would guess less than 20 IBU’s here. Finish is clean and refreshing with a fleeting sensation of coolness in the back of the throat which was pleasant. This is a good starter ale which I will look to share with the macro-lager masses.

Sampled at the 10th annual Brewgrass festival. After speaking with one of their sales reps, I discovered that one of their offerings at this year’s festival was barreled just in time to bring. As such it was not named yet and had only been released that day. The rep explained that this was meant to be an easy transition into the Pale Ale category for those that were not used to the more biting bitterness of your standard IPA’s. In this task, they were successful. Pours copper and clear with light carbonation and a light wispy head. Very light aroma and is metallic, with light grain and grassy. The flavor is where it is at in this one. I dare to say that this will indeed do a good job of getting people interested in to the world of Pale Ale. Caramel and biscuit malts marked by subtle and well balance citrus and pine hops. There is also a very, very light sweetness. I think you would be fooling yourself not to enjoy the flavor of this one. It is NOT a hop powerhouse, nor is it meant to be. It is exactly what they were shooting for as an intro for non-pale ale drinkers. Medium slick body. Great sessionable brew and one that would do a good job as a crossover beer for macro-drinkers. Great job…..Now, what’s the name??
