COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dry stout brewed with 9 different malts and lots of hops. Big flavoful stout with a dry roasty, almost smoky finish, balanced with some classic hops, similar to Guniness on steroids.

12 oz. bottle. Opaque black pour, small to medium tan head that settled to a light brown ring pretty quickly, though it left some decent lace. Mostly malt based aromas of coffee and roasted grains although a hint of spice evident. Medium body, a little disappointing in that respect. Flavors echo the aroma with burnt caramel, coffee, and dark roasted grain. Finish is smooth and slightly dry. Clean tasting and pleasant to drink. Nothing offensive, but nothing stellar either.

Bottle from deftim13. Thanks Tim! Black with nice lacing, but quickly dissipating head. Great chocolately malty aroma. Taste leans a hair dry, but still very good, because no burnt flavors. No age indicator, no oxidation, but still maybe mellowed from age. Pretty nice.

Bottle in VA. Black with a fizzy tan head. Sweet roasty chocolate aroma and a straight up chocolate and mild coffee taste. Decent.

12 oz, 2007 vintage. Opaque black with a large, sticky head that lasts. Complicated aroma with notes of molasses, coffee, cocoa, juniper, brown sugar, other earthy spices, grassy herbs and more. Front is molasses, brown sugar, spices and slight tart fruit. The middle brings on coffee, sweet and piquant chicory, dried wood and caramel. Finish of dried and slightly charred hickory, sweetish cured tobacco, and espresso. Medium-heavy body is slightly sticky, but just watery enough to make this a dangerously chuggable stout.

Bottle; poured a very dark brown/black with only a whisp of a tan head. Aroma was good for the style; chocolate, caramel, roasted malt and maybe some hints of nuts and vanilla. Smelled a bit sweet. Flavor was a bit more roasted than the aroma indicated. Flavor got better throughout. A nice blend of roasted malt and chocolate; some caramel and fruit (cherry?). A bit sweet. Above average for the style.

Jet black with brown head. Nose of sour dark malt, almost burnt, with harsh coffee and milk chocolate in the background. Flavor is nice roasted malt with a hint of chocolate in the finish. Nice and dry, but a bit watery, especially in the finish. Wouldn’t peg this at 8%-- it’s an easy drinker! Nothing too fancy, but tasty all around, and nothing seemed out of sorts per other ratings.

Thanks to limesmut for the bottle. Deep brown pour with a smallish head. Aroma of roasted malts, some chocolate and a bit of butterscotch. Diacetyl wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the other reviews.
Thin to medium body. Bitter and somewhat chalky finish. Alcohol is well hidden, to the point where I can barely believe the 8% ABV.

From a bottle purchased appox 1.5 years ago, stored in my fridge the whole time. At 8% abv I thought this would stand the test of time and possibly, get better even - such was not the case. Clear dark brown with ruby edges and a beige head. Butterscotch/diacetyl and caramel in the nose. Flavor starts with chocolate/roast, butterscotch and then, inexplicably fades into watery tastelessness. Disappointing watery body with mild carbonation. Wasn’t infected or anything either.

Bottle brought by JasonP to A&K Holiday tasting: Deep brown with a lasting head. The aroma has buttery bread and oxidization along with prune, wet grains, and a hint of chocolate. The taste is grassy and flabby with a hint of chocolate covered raspberry. Charred smoke upon the finish. The mouth feel is smooth but thin. This bottle is too old and be warned, past it’s prime.

12oz. Typical Stout pour, black with tan head. Mostly sweet aroma, bit of roast. Pretty sweet body with some kind of fruit going on and alcohol showing like crazy, especially considering how well high quality imp stouts can hide it. Some interesting flavors nonetheless, including wine.
