Maker: Arcobräu Gräfliches Brauhaus Beer: Edler Sud (bottled, 500ml, from a Yorma’s at Main Station) Style: Bayrisch Hell/Dortmunder ALC.VOL.: 5.0% Colour: Straw yellow, clear. Medium, fluffy white head. Nose: Sour bread, grass, herbs, hoppy bitterness. Texture: Light bodied, not too watery. Moderate carbonation. Taste: A bit sweetish, malty at first. Light citrus note. Hints of caramel, which are more noticeable towards the middle. Lemon a bit stronger, too, but no floral notes. Finish is only wee bitter, still malty. Lightly grassy and lemony aftertaste. Impressions: Surprisingly agreeable, quaffable Helles. Equally surprisingly, nary any hoppy notes for a beer with a hoppy aroma. Nothing special, but okay session beer.

Vielen Dank an Erzengel! Das Bier hat eine klare goldgelbe Farbe und eine ordentliche feine weiße Schaumkrone. Geruch würzig hopfig, sehr malzig, etwas Getreide. Geschmack würzig malzig, sehr leicht metallisch, dumpfes Getreide, naja.

Bottle from Yorma’s in Essen. Malty-sweetish beginning. Fresh, easy to dink. Lots of grain in the mainpart, smooth, not much bitterness, but a bit unround. The aftertaste is grainy-malty, slightly bitter, easy to drink but not too deep. Ok.

50cl bottle bb04/2015, bought at Mannheim layover, Yorma’s. Starts with a farty entry into macro hell aromawise, but recovers from its sulphuric origins by what seem to be natural, not extract hops (cf. label), providing a distinctly lemony, pleasant finish. Palate is ok, graininess subdued, well drinkable for the swill it wants to be.

Yormas bayrisch export lager beer 5.4%. Pale gold thin layer of bubbles. Well it’s not terrible but not good either. The malt is a bit thin and it’s more carbonation than hop on the finish but there is some lemon flavour. Ok average but lemon on finish is decent
