COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No other beer shows off what malts can do in a beer better than porter. Certified Organic Porter uses a complex blend of five malts that compliment and highlight one another in a harmonious mixture. Only one addition of imported Pacific Gem hops is used to provide a balancing bitterness without introducing any other hop character. While decidedly in the robust porter category, Certified Organic Porter has none of the harsh character people often associate with dark ales. Instead, what one finds is a rich, smooth beer with suggestions of chocolate and just a hint of coffee. So smooth and malty, this porter will convert even the non-dark beer drinker.

Pours a very opaque black, without much head. Nose is somewhat flat. Taste is light , full of chocolate, almost like drinking a chocolate soda. Drinks easy and for a porter somewhat thirst quenching. Landing dry and sweet. Interesting porter, but have had much better. Quaff score 6 / 10

A very light style of porter. Appears more like a brown ale. Some roasted aromatics, but fairly muddled on the nose. Malty palate with an effervessent mouthfeel. Thin finish.

Darkest ruby brown, small beige head fades. Mild roasted malt aroma. Thin sweet dark malt taste, some caramel and chocolate. Low hopped, no bitterness. Fizzy, light and fruity finish makes it: LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

Tap. Pours mostly clear, dark brown with thick, creamy beige head; good retention and spare lacing. Aroma is caramel malt, light roast, figs, grassy hops, and light woody notes. Flavor is malt dominate, light hops, and faint fruit esters; dry, roasted finish. Light/medium body, medium carbonation, and low warmth.

A rather roasty and dark porter with a thin tannish head. Balanced and a bit malty, but not overly sweet. Light coffee flavor. Not at all heavy.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2012 Best beer I’ve had to date. Smells a bit like chocolate milk. Nice 2 finger head that lasted about 30 seconds. Nice dark brown color. Tastes fantastic. You can taste the chocolate immediately. Has a nice medium feel with a bit of fizz. Great finish at which point you can taste a nice flavor of coffee. A tiny bit of bitterness that makes it that much better. A little bit of an aftertaste that resembles the original taste almost completely.

A great beer, if not the best for sure one of the top five porters out their. Great flavor and is a must when the weather is cold. Look for this beer to explode in popularity. One of the better beers Eel River makes.
