COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No other beer shows off what malts can do in a beer better than porter. Certified Organic Porter uses a complex blend of five malts that compliment and highlight one another in a harmonious mixture. Only one addition of imported Pacific Gem hops is used to provide a balancing bitterness without introducing any other hop character. While decidedly in the robust porter category, Certified Organic Porter has none of the harsh character people often associate with dark ales. Instead, what one finds is a rich, smooth beer with suggestions of chocolate and just a hint of coffee. So smooth and malty, this porter will convert even the non-dark beer drinker.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a roasted malt and raisin. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet roasted malt with raisin and nice light dry finish. A good porter from Eel River.

Pours ruby edged, deep brown-black with thick tan head. Scent is malt, chocolate. Taste is chocolate roast, vanilla. Rich and malty. Quite a sweet pleasure to drink.

Draught @ Thirsty Bear Brewing Company, San Francisco. Rated on 13.10.2012.
Pours a dark brown colour with a creamy small head. Aroma of toasted malts, lactose and grassy hops. Flavour of roasted malts, lactose, bread and milk chocolate. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a smooth malty finish with low bitterness. Good.

Bk pour with an off-white head. Some sweet toffee malt, a bit of chocolate, and a fair amount of roast. There’s a nice bit of coffee to the nose, too. Fairly sweet flavor with a lot of toffee and chocolate maltiness. Some hints of yeast, floral, and earthy hops. A decent coffee nose and a very mild bitterness.

Not much head or nose to speak of. Taste is one of chocolate and roasted coffee on back of palate. I love porters so it's tough for me to give too low a rating. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a light brown with nearly no head. Nose was faint- this beer really had nothing going on at all. Thin and flavourless.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a pretty small head. I found this one to be rather heavy on the roasted malts, but in a very inviting way. The beer itself was extremely smooth and easy on the palate, though it kept up that robust malty and roasted character. Great porter.

Dark brown pour with a fairly sizable head. Aroma and taste are predominantly coffee with a bit of chocolate.
