3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Good looking with a dark, dark brown body and creamy tan head. The aroma was faintly roasted coffee, dark chocolate, filberts, caramel. This was light bodied for a porter with more carbonation than I prefer in the style and a thin mouthfeel. The flavor echoed the aroma elements in a subtle way. Porters should be more intense.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2005 pours a dark brown with a moderate amount of offwhite head. A fair amount of lacing left from the somewhat diminishing head. Very nice smell, you smell roasted immeadetly, roasted hops, coffee maybe even some slight chocolate smell to it. Smell also has a neat sweet undertone to it. Outstanding body smooth and mouth coating. Taste starts off bitter roasted but very nice and gives way to a mostly sweetly roasted somewhat bitter aftertaste that lingers for quite awhile. Outstanding beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown with a big pillowy head and very nice lace. The aroma is roasted malt and medium coffee. Fairly plain. The flavor is bitter and roasty. Tastes better than it smells and the palate is nice. Soft carbonation, bitter, and creamy. Some hazelnot comes through in the aftertaste. Almost a very good porter but it does not quite make it.

Paid $1.49 for a 12-oz single. Very dark brown, with an inch-and-a-half tan head. Aroma is sweetly malty. Flavor is outstanding... deep roasted chocolates & nuts, slightly sweet, slightly bitter... very refreshing. Well above average!!

Pours a dark brown with a tan head.
It didnt have a lot of aroma may be cause it was so cold. But had a great flavor, I can think of 4 words to describe it: smokey, chocolate, coffee, and malty. A much better beer than I anticipated.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured with a full 1 inch head with some lacing. This Porter is true to style. The color is dark brown not black. The taste is laced with nuttiness. I don’t know what impact organic ingredients play. This is a good Porter but not outstanding.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with a definite ruby hue to it. Small dense foamy brown head. Nose is coffee and laden with roasted malts. There’s a nice caramel sweetness to it as well. The flavors are easily summed up with roasted malt, light coffee and anise, with burnt or smoky wood and caramel. Body is light body and a bit bitter and oily. Finishes smokier and more bitter than the taste. More coffee too. Good beer!

I really enjoyed this porter. I found it to be full, flavorful and true to style. A slightly lighter version than many of those one finds these days and I think that is what I enjoyed so much. Why brew a porter to stout strength?
Malty, roasted notes. Touch smoky. Mildy, mildly sweet. Nicely hopped and easily drinkable. This could become a staple around here.
