zebracakes (959), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown ruby with off white head. Aroma is smoke, malt, chocolate, roasted nuts. Flavor is the same with coffee, pine, and nice bitterness.
shadey (1298), Rochester, New York, USA Jun 21, 2008 12oz bottle. The pour is a very dark brown with some red highlights. The head is a thin layer of off-white cream and some spotty lacing. The aroma is quite roasty with some nice chocolate notes. The flavor is sweet dark chocolate up front, but the hop bitterness and the roast clean up the finish. Overall a very pleasent, easy-drinking porter. jcwattsrugger (3757), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 14, 2008 12 oz bottle-pours a big rich light brown head that laces and black color. Aroma is sweet rich/roasty dark malt-toffee, smoky, secondary dark fruit-raisin. Taste is sweet rich/roasty dark malt-toffee/chocolate, smoky, secondary dark fruit-raisin, then some metallic hops bitterness. Full body. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out.
Bungalo22 (222), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Jun 6, 2008 This was thin for a porter but a very good thin porter. It was full of roasted nut and a nice malt backbone. I enjoyed this once for the balance. It was porter that was OK to drink in the summer. Hmmm. JPDIPSO (4189), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA May 29, 2008 Brown color with a taller foamy light mocha head that diminishes fairly quickly. Whole grain toast and hints of chocolate in the aromas. I’m catching old coffee grounds also. Thin, lifeless feel. Dark caramel start. Some dark chocolate in the middle along with some green beans. Metallic and dry in the finish. Underwhelmed. ElJefe (506), Rochester, New York, USA May 25, 2008 Dark brown with a light brown head that recedes to a 1/4" layer of foam that sticks around for the duration. Slightly smokey aroma of brown sugar and coffee. Bitter roasted coffee, earth, and light nuttiness in the flavor. Medium body with smooth carbonation. Finish on the dry side.
