3fourths (6406) - Boulder, USA - MAY 8, 2009
Bottle. Slightly cloudy dark brown body, lighter @ the top with a quickly diminishing tan head. Nose is chemical-like caramel and munich malt with light notes of toast, nuts and dry wood. Body is thick and viscous, oily and frothy. Low to medium carbonation. Flavor is crisp toasted malts, bread crust, caramel, lighter notes of vanilla and almonds, that sort of thing. Moderately hopped. Decent winter warmer but nothing special.

22. 2010 vintage. Pours a crystal clear bright rubied amber with a dense and creamy tan head that doesn’t stick around for long. Sweet gingerbread, candied plum, molasses, and toffee nose. Sticky thick body with very little carb. Sugary mid palate with plums, molasses, and gingerbread. Sticky sweet finish.

Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 10, 2011
Clear reddish copper pour, white head. Aroma is malty, lots of caramel, breadiness, and candied orange. Tastes hoppier than I would have expected... still has caramel and toasty bready flavors, but moves to a big hoppy bitterness, kind of grassy with more sweet orange, a touch of lemon rind. Nice, kind of seems like what often gets called a "double red."

Bottle. Hazy light brown pour with a huge foamy head. Belgian yeast nose with raisin. Taste is very sweet - mandarin orange, lemon, and some fig. Pretty good.

Deep Copper with big yellow/tan head toasty malt and citrusy hop nose medium bodied. Roasty beginning into a hoppy kick but then it the flavor party ends early. lingering hoppy bitterness with a little soapy viscosity. Similar but much less satisfying than a Shark Attack or a Jolly Roger.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2011 (22oz bottle) Purchased at Cook Street Liquor Store in Victoria, B.C. Deep orange body, little head. Very alcoholic nose - some whiskey mingles with mandarin oranges. Cloyingly sweet, great piney hop tang. Decent, rather expensive and overly sweet.

Dark apricot pour, off white head. Aroma has some dried stone fruit, light spice, honey, and toffee. Flavor is very nice. Dried peaches and apricots, tupelo honey, pancakes and christmas cookies. Very enjoyable beer!

Pours a nice turbid amber red, lacy head that quickly disappears. Smells of sweet fruit and yeast. Initial flavor is sweet and fruity with a hint of spice, palate is too carbonated for my taste, which quickly overpowers flavor with fizz, followed by a very yeasty finish. This is not a bad beer, but it’s not really my favorite style. Those who love fruit/spice/yeast varieties with clever names will enjoy this (aka my girlfriend).

Bottle, 22oz, courtesy of MiP. It’s a hazy, amber beer with a finger-thick beige head. The aroma has a slightly sourish berry touch, but it’s mostly caramel fruityness. Quite fizzy mouthfeel, full-bodied. The flavor has some berries, caramel and a sour touch. Quite alcoholic, giving a certain warmth, especially towards the end. Rather boring at first, but gets better after a while, even though it’s too alcoholic. 100814
