COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As America’s first certified organic brewery, Eel River Brewing always celebrates Earth Day (April 22nd) to raise awareness about how easy it is to become sustainable. By taking small steps as individuals, together we can make big changes. To celebrate Earth Day in 2011, Eel River produced a specialty double IPA: Earth Thirst.

Like all of Eel River’s brews, Earth Thirst is organic and brewed sustainably. Brewed with over three pounds of hops per barrel and finishing out at 8.2% ABV, this is a strong, hoppy beer! Cascade and Centennial hops give this double IPA a heavy floral aroma and citrus flavor. What makes this beer unique is that it uses the highest quality, all organic ingredients - all from the Pacific Northwest.

from notes: not sure on the age, probably middling. A little muddled IMHO, but not bad. Malt and pungent and bitter hops play together well. Big sticky body, but - not a standout in the aroma or flavor department. Just ok, and probably a one timer."

Bottle. Pours a hazy light amber color with a ginormous white head on there. Nose is light and grassy, but not overwhelmingly complex for me. Taste is moderately bitter, but nothing special. Wouldn’t grab this again.

Rated on 7-08-2012 (Bottle) This beer has a medium sized semi-fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, hazy golden body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, pine, earthy, citrus hops, fruity, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet, bitter, caramel malt, pine hops, fruity, and spicy. The mouthfeel is sprite and warming. This beer is light-medium bodied. The hops are upfront in the flavor and linger for a short time. This beer is okay but did not leave me wanting to have it again. It comes up a bit short overall.

Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with nice off white head. Nose is caramel and floral. Some earthy hops in the taste. Okay.

A pretty solid IPA that is full of citrus and earthy taste. It’s pretty thirst quenching though.

Bottle from Whole Foods Westlake, Seattle
Hazy golden color with compact head, persistent, and nice lace. Nice hop aroma, fruity and floral, not as strong as in other beers; light hop sweat later. The mouthfeel is bold but rather dry, and this is a quality; lean malt and toffee flavor, then the hops bring a strong bitterness and plenty of resiny interest, also some fruity waves.
Well drinkable, very good, although more resiny than fruity.

22oz bottle pours a slightly hazy golden color with a bit of head. Mild full hop flavors. A little musty tasting.

Bomber from total wine Sacramento. Pours copper with white head. Nice hop aroma. Beer has good balance of hops and malt. Just isn’t enough

Amber colored, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, resin, light caramel. Medium bodied, moderate to high bitterness, not much flavor. I don’t know why I keep trying their beers, I never enjoy them that much.

Pretty pedestrian double ipa. Eel river is still stuck in the 1990's. They need a new brewer. Rarely does anything they make wow you. I think it's great that they do organic but they need to step up to the plate and get on the game or they will just be lost in the shuffle if not too late already.
