Type: 22-oz. bomber Glass: Stone Ruination IPA pint glass From: Costco in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif. Price: $5.39 Purchased: May 10, 2013 Consumed: May 10, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured a honey orange murky color with two fingers of khaki white head. Nice foamy coat of lacing on the sides all the way down. Very good retention on the top as well. Smelled wet Cascade hops, sweet floral hops and citrus hops (orange, tangerine and orange rind) with a thick malt and honey backbone. Tasted a strong whiff of alcohol to start. Definitely not hidden. Seemed to then go right into a bitter finish. In between was earthy, grainy, bready malts with some citrus notes (still getting orange rind, tangerine and orange). Medium body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt bitter finish. Not too bad, especially for the price. Pretty good value here. That being said, I am a bit sick as a rate this so maybe I’m just out of it.

Tap @ Mayor of Old Town Fort Collins. Pours a bit hazy, orangish appearance with an off white head. Somewhat earthy, herbal, a bit bitter, piney hoppy, caramel aroma. Fairly toasty malty, toffee, somewhat spicy, resiny, piney hoppy flavor. Ok but not my favorite.

bottle-conditioned 22oz. heavy sediment in the bottle is worrisome, but a careful pour results in a lightly hazed amber orange body with a fine-bubbled white head. a lot of high-acid American hops in the nose and flavor (pine sap, resin, citrus fruit, herbs) with moderate to heavy sweet malt (red apple, caramel / sweet toffee, toasted grains). yeast seems to mellow and round both the aroma and the flavor, so it has a pleasant doughiness and softness which works better with the raw / bitter hops and sweet malt than if this were filtered and/or force-carbonated. I get a distinct English ale yeast mustiness throughout (basement must, soil, moss, wood, etc.) that I find myself liking more and more, but there’s still a little too much raw hop harshness to make it work for me.

Poured from bottle. Clear orange pour. Pine citrus and floral aroma. Hoppy. Sweet. Somewhat bitter. Fruity taste stands out. Loved it and not sure why it wasn't rated higher

22 oz. bottle shared by shigadeyo (August 2011). Pours a cloudy amber color with a small white head. The aroma has caramel, citrus, some butterscotch and a strange stinky cheese note. The flavor is earthy, grassy, bready malts, light caramel, some stinky cheese; gets drier as it warmed. I was not a fan.

Bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar: Created a monstrous sizing of foamy head where as the liquid was a dense brass to medium gold appearance. As for the nose, a bold aroma of oily green hop pellets dominate the aroma but there is a scent of whole grain bready like malts that shine through. The flavor is bitter and metallic with sticky residue from hops drowning out the bready malts I picked up in the aroma; however, there is some hint towards honey oat or an organic flower such as hibiscus.

I loved this. Tons of hops, floral and citrus dominating from start to finish. Not too dry in the end but plenty of strength as well. Excellent.

Picked this up for $7.99, big mistake. Orange color, good head. Smells slightly like hops, a bit of malt, so boring. The flavor was clearly a DIPA but was so lacking in hop presence that I was really disappointed. Overall this was very boring and I’d like my $8 back. :( Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-04-2012 02:08:35

Three way tasting with Good Life Descender and Alesmith IPA. Pours the darkest of the three, pretty deep orange. Smell is caramel and sweet malt. Taste is bitter and dirty, little hoppiness, but not as much as I would hope or expect from an Imperial. Still pretty drinkable. Probably third out of three, but after drinking these separately, I would still drink this again.
