Light bodies. Bit of cola. Carbonated a bit too much. I do not get the espresso or coffee in the description. Not intense enough for my taste I like a more solid Imperial Stout.

(Rating #2054)

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours almost black with a tan head. Smelled of sweet malt and chocolate. Full flavored brew with quite a bit of bitterness to it. Just a little bit of alcohol burn keeps it from being at the top of its class. Good brew!!!

This poured opaque brown in color with a moderate beige head that dissipated away slowly. The aromas were of chocolate milkshake, dark caramel and light coffee. In the mouth it was medium-bodied with lots of carbonation that keeps it feeling light. It does lack concentration in the midpalate coming off a bit watery. The finish is moderately long with some ash flavors combining with the flavors from the nose.

Bomber. Don’t recall who sent me this, but thanks! Black with a brown head. Bitter chocolate and coffee nose, some herbal hop. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel, nice lace. Strong bitter chocolate flavor, coffee and licorice. An almost peaty smokiness creeps in after warming. Solid.

Taste 11/08 Bottle. Looks: Opaque black with a thick tan foam. Aroma: Roasted and toasted malts with chocolate, a little wood and alcohol. Taste: Thick bodied version of the aroma. Chocolate, roast/toast malt. Sweet and bitter. Good quality ingredients. Decent recipe/blend.

Bottle shared by EDA. Pretty nice aroma, sweet with molasses, tar, beets. Flavor is molassesy, very dry actually, a fair bit of roast. Easily drinkable and calm. Pretty solid, one of the more relaxed and downplayed IS’s. A nice change from the super-sweet Dark Lord style stouts.
