Taste: pretty sour start, vinous, rasperries, sour ripe cherries, alcohol warming the throat. Aftertaste: sweet alcohol, cherry liquor, red wine, little bitter, green apple skin. Really smooth non agressive stout.

Tasty! BLACK! Licorace and plums... A little thin but this was not at all a negative thing. The most easy drinking I have tried of these imperial stouts.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vulcanmeister (131) - La Grande, Oregon, USA - JUL 16, 2011
Pours a coke color with a light tan head. The aroma is roasty with a carmel, licorice malt base. Somewhat dry and light mouthfeel. Aftertaste was roasted malt, and carmel and some undefinable spices. Enjoyable.

bottle, pour cola color and a little thin, but had plenty of chocolate, malt and anise flavors with a nice hops contribution.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 944play (315) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - JUN 20, 2011
22oz in Bordeaux glass. Deep brown with medium tan head. Chocolate and yogurt are dominant aromas with a little cardamom way back in there. Flavors differ strikingly, with sturdy licorice, geranium greenery, and ginseng. Very powerful prickly finishing texture with no excess heat. I shan’t mince words: this beer is weird.

Pours cola color into a shaker. Brown head crackles and recedes to nothing. Milk chocolate aromas. Dry and heavily carbonated with soy and licorice upfront and a lasting chocolate finish.
