A rich roasty brew with a deep "espresso" character. Originally brewed for the Imperial Court in Russia, this stout is a warm festive drink made with the cold Russian Winters in mind. This complex stout is brewed with a combination of nine domestic and imported malts. Only the finest Pacific Northwest hops are used to provide the perfect balance in our award winning beer.

Pours an onyx color with a quickly dissipating caramelized colored head. Sweet roasted malt and coconut in the aroma. Smooth on the front of the tongue, but the bitterness interacts with the carbonation to create a harsher texture on the rear of the palate. The dark roast flavor gets a little smoky. Coconut emerges. The bitterness on the rear of the palate is just a little too prominent.

From a bottle. Big roasted aroma, malt flavour runs deep through this beast, rich coffee and bitter chocolate give it the classic imperial stout flavour. Itís a very good version.

Bomber into a tulip Dark brown pour, settles black. Short lived dark mocha head. Nose is roast, fresh roast coffee, brown sugar and slight earth notes. Brown sugar, roast, and coffee notes. Slightly sweet but finishes earth dry with lingering brown sugar. For the price a solid imperial stout.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roasted malts, burnt sugar, caramel. Medium mouthfeel with sweet roast, cocoa, and light bitter finish, good.

Reviewed from notes. Pint glass and snifter. The appearance had a dark brown to black color with a one finger-ed off white foamy head in both glasses, same amount of clingy foamy lacing sticking nicely to the sides of both glasses. The smell had chocolate with espresso and molasses leading to some dark fruits, inviting to say the least. The taste was mainly sweet due to the fact that the malts are taking the lead on this. Super sweet sticky chocolatey aftertaste with a sweet dry finish. On the palate, it sits about a medium on the body with a somewhat soft carbonation to satisfy indulgent taste buds to want to partake in more, just very smooth and velvety - wow - Iím somewhat impressed. Overall, Russian Imperial Stout - check! Worthy of having again - second check, organic well the bottle and the company says itís so - do I care so much - not really, but if youíre into that hippie organic sort of thing I say go for it, as itís actually worth coming back to for me.

From a 22 oz bottle shared at home. Pours black with a tan head. Roasty, licorice nose. Flavors of mild chocolate. Medium bodied. Slightly sweet finish.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a slightly thick tan head on there. Nose has some grains and roasting elements to it, and an almost sour (but not quite) dark fruit hint to it. Taste ends up being slightly sweet up front, but has some roasting and dark fruit elements to it throughout. Really a nice and surprisingly light imperial stout. I like it.

Pours a deep black color with a dark beige foam head. Aroma is of roasted malt with a hint of espresso coffee. A true Imperial Stout in color, aroma and flavor. A clean coffe flavor that leaves a slight bitter tingle on the tongue.
