A rich roasty brew with a deep "espresso" character. Originally brewed for the Imperial Court in Russia, this stout is a warm festive drink made with the cold Russian Winters in mind. This complex stout is brewed with a combination of nine domestic and imported malts. Only the finest Pacific Northwest hops are used to provide the perfect balance in our award winning beer.

Clear dark red-brown beer. Big creamy tan head. Semi dry palate, a little soft. Dark toffee with a light touch of sweetness and a mild bubblegum streak. Creamy malt before the semi dry finish. Comes over like a dark barleywine! Interesting beer!

Black color; medium sized creamy head, beige. Aroma of dark caramel and light roasted malt; chocolate, leather, a touch of five-spices. Strong but lean body; rich chocolate and caramel flavor, with leather and tobacco notes, good sweetness; the final is correctly bitter, playing with the sweet chocolate and without traces of roasted malt, just light liquorice. Very well balanced. Excellent.

Bottle, 22oz, courtesy of MiP. A reddish, dark brown beer with a small, beige head. Chocolate and roasted malts on the nose, some alcohol and coffee. The flavor is rather sweet and chocolatey, with a pleasant dash of chocolate and roasted malts. Lasting finish with lots of chocolate. Full body, quite warming. A nice one indeed, but I needed a few sips to appreciate it fully. At first I wanted more hops in it, but after a while I donít anymore. Nice. 100814
