3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 daleharshman (703) - San Diego, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Bomber from Total Wine in Tustin ($5.49). Pours a dark brown, not quite black as other imperial stouts. The half finger of beige head quickly subsides. Aroma is rather weak but has roasted malts, caramel, medicine. Flavor is earthy roasted malts, caramel, chocolate (milk rather than bittersweet), and some alcohol. There is an earthy/dirt maltiness in the finish. Light mouthfeel for the style. Quite drinkable, but there are far better impy stouts.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 IrishBoy (3336) - Bakersfield, California, USA - APR 4, 2012
Bomber from BevMo in Camirillo. Nose is coffee, and chocolate, with hints of licorice and a fair amount of vanilla beans. Black with a small light tan head. Flavor has an immediate hint of soy sauce that quickly fades into a chocolate expresso flavor with a light bitter background.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 drjay44 (1734) - Salida, Colorado, USA - APR 2, 2012
650 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, lasting, mocha head, with some lacing, over an almost black (SRM 40) clear body....nose is coffee, chocolate, light toffee/caramel....taste is cocoa, coffee, light soy, hints of dried fruits, finishing with a medium hop bitter bite....mouth feel is chewy, slightly sticky, alcohol present, carbonation low. This meets the style quite well. It does not have the depth of aromas and flavors of the very best, but is enjoyable the nonce. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2012 Draught at Rattle ’N’ Hum, NYC Black, muddy body. Creamy brown head. Well balanced, rather intense and complex aroma of raisins, dark malt, chocolate. Heavily bitter, moderately sweet flavour of malts - bit weaker as one would expect. Well balanced though as well as very drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2012 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was strong cocoa and malted milk. The flavor was strong cocoa, vanilla, malted milk and toasty malts. The finish was long and toasty with lingering cocoa and vanilla. Thick, creamy and full body. Well done.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Camons (2168) - Hasselager, DENMARK - FEB 26, 2012
Tap @ Vine Street pub, Denver. Pours black with a red tone along the glass sides, small tan ring of foam. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, rich chocolate and caramel, plums, port. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, caramel, dried fruit, lots of rye, some wood notes. Medium body, low carbonation. For me the flavor had to much rye compared to the nice aroma, the rye overshined the rest of the flavors. 260212

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nate (3093) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2012
From bottle - ’07 or ’08 vintage. Rich and malty nose, with caramel, molasses, light smoke and coffee, and a bit of hop character. Roasted barley and biscuit. Alcohol vapors and a bit of oxidation. Dark opaque black, with light than mildly lacing head. Medium-heavy body, not quite oily, with medium carbonation and alcohol warming. Starts pretty sweet, with molasses and caramel, some coffee and smoky acidity. Alcohol and Tootsie Roll sweetness, mild nutty bitterness, and some hop bitterness in the finish. Stays sweet throughout, but not cloying. After remains sweet and tangy on the tongue, but is not overpowering. Nice stout.

Bottle@Home. Malty and fruity aroma. Ruby, beige/yellow head, good lace. Very sweet, soft bitterness, very fruity, raisin. Very sticky. Imperial Stout??? I’d call it a Barley Wine.
