COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich roasty brew with a deep "espresso" character. Originally brewed for the Imperial Court in Russia, this stout is a warm festive drink made with the cold Russian Winters in mind. This complex stout is brewed with a combination of nine domestic and imported malts. Only the finest Pacific Northwest hops are used to provide the perfect balance in our award winning beer.

More interesting than anything and seemed more like a Porter to me. Appearance: Dark black, with a nice dark head of foam. Looked tasty. Smell: Had the traditional RIS aroma, heavy fruit, molasses, caramels. There was more hop aroma that I typically would expect. Taste: The initial impression was that it was thin for RIS, then flavors of molassis and cherry/plum fruitiness with some unexpected smokey flavors as well. The finish is dominated with Washington State Hops (Cascades?) which are not my favorite, but under control here, so it did not ruin the beer for me. This seemed more a good Porter to me. Mouthfeel was too thin for an RIS Drinkability was about average. A good beer to enjoy slowly.

Bomber poured into a pint glass, pours black with a light mocha head, with some lacing that dissipates quickly. Tastes of caramel, molasses, licorice, plum, raisins and chocolate balancing the bitterness of hops. Silky smooth refined taste, alcohol well hidden. Overall a very good imperial stout.

Bomber. Says MMXIV on the neck. Reminds me a bit if of a lighter dark lord. Overly sweet like there is excess sugar, dark fruit, molasses, nice. Palate is medium for a 9.5% imperial. Pretty darn good, and a nice suprise for $7.

22oz bomber pour to tulip glass. Very black color. Frothy beige head one finger thick dissipated quickly with no lacing. Smells of chocolate, vanilla and dark dried fruits raisin/prune. Nice boozy warmth is detected almost immediately. A lot of flavors here dark chocolates, mocha, smoky oak and vanilla. Subtle bitterness from hops balances and ties the flavors together. Creamy smooth mouthfeel and very drinkable for a high ABV. Cheers!

Black pour with frothy beige head. Aroma of malts, chocolate, coffee, faint caramel and hint of vanilla. Taste of heavy malts, roasted coffee, sweetened chocolate, green vanilla beans, and a hint of lactose. Full bodied, beautiful creamy mouthfeel, perfectly balanced. Low hop bitterness which was nice for a change on an imperial stout. Delicious beer!

Bottled: poured black with a tan head. Aroma had malty roast with a stale biscuit taste. I am giving up this bottle was poor. Had some funkiness to it in a bad way. Probably bad bottle!

Bought this on 12/15/2014. It exploded in my fridge four days later. Beer everywhere. Took two people an hour to clean up. I had several other 22 oz. bottles in there which were fine.
