3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
More interesting than anything and seemed more like a Porter to me.
Appearance: Dark black, with a nice dark head of foam. Looked tasty.
Smell: Had the traditional RIS aroma, heavy fruit, molasses, caramels. There was more hop aroma that I typically would expect.
Taste: The initial impression was that it was thin for RIS, then flavors of molassis and cherry/plum fruitiness with some unexpected smokey flavors as well. The finish is dominated with Washington State Hops (Cascades?) which are not my favorite, but under control here, so it did not ruin the beer for me. This seemed more a good Porter to me.
Mouthfeel was too thin for an RIS
Drinkability was about average. A good beer to enjoy slowly.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bomber from Mr. Aís liquor in Vista. Pours dark brown/black with a rich, creamy khaki head that leaves thick, artistic lacing. Aroma of plum, chocolate, coffee, molasses, alcohol, slight vanilla, and sweet malt. Taste is tending toward sweet but is well balanced with light bitterness, overall pretty dry. Full body with a thick, creamy texture, medium carbonation and long, balanced, chocolatey finish. The alcohol is present but not over the top for 9.5% abv. This is a well crafted imperial stout, recommended.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
we had a 22 of this beer alongsode some of the cream of the crop impy stouts last night, and in comparison it flat out sucked. it may have done better by itself, but still... looks like a porter (sorry, i like my impyís to look like motor oil) and has a weakish but non-offensive roasted malt aroma and flavor. for an impy it sucked...it would be an ok porter."

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown with only a few ruby highlights visible at the bottom of the tulip glass, 2 finger mocha head. Aromas of coffee, molasses, leather - nice but not overly complex. The taste initially is sweet, with dried fruits, dark chocolate, not much coffee but quite a hop bitterness and very noticeably boozy. Nice creamy and full-bodied. Tastes more like a Belgian quadrupel than an imperial stout; not what I was expecting but fairly good nonetheless.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Chocolate, coffee and molasses make this a unique aroma for a stout. It pour black as night with a head that reminds me of thin brown sugar cream of wheat. Mild chocolate flavors with only slight coffee bitterness this beer is much more mild than I expected. That is more of a strength than a weakness for this beer. I really liked it.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
650ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Rating from April 2014. This was a big bold beer with plenty of dark chocolate, caramel and toffee in the aroma and a long bitter finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black pour under a generous light khaki foamy head. The aroma was a touch biscuity and boozy but there was a nice deep chocolaty roast note about it, with some mild caramel and coffee undertones. Rich deep bakers cocoa sweetness with some roast malt bitterness and a kiss of coffee. Nice earthy semi bitter chocolaty finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an onyx color with a quickly dissipating caramelized colored head. Sweet roasted malt and coconut in the aroma. Smooth on the front of the tongue, but the bitterness interacts with the carbonation to create a harsher texture on the rear of the palate. The dark roast flavor gets a little smoky. Coconut emerges. The bitterness on the rear of the palate is just a little too prominent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a bottle. Big roasted aroma, malt flavour runs deep through this beast, rich coffee and bitter chocolate give it the classic imperial stout flavour. Itís a very good version.
