Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #16: Pours hazy orange with a fully diminished off white head. Dry malty aroma, light caramel note. Flavour is mild sweet caramel malt. Light yeasty, mild bitter and with nicely integrated fruity hops notes. This goes into a dry bitter finish.

# 16 Bottle. [Papsoe’s great blind tasting, thanks Henrik!] Large thick beige and creamy head that mostly lasted. Excellent display of lacework. Light cloudy amber color. Aroma of toasted malt, light floral, some fruit. Over the palate came spice and hint of herbs, light hoppy perfume feel. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Light to moderated bitter flavor with some counter sweetness. Light dry and bitter floral finish. 6-4-6-3-12 = 3.1 19-04-2008

Striking. A whiff of this and you know this one is going to be an experience all it’s own. As others have noted, it has a very ’earthy’ taste. Tastes of burnt sugar and toffee. Dry finish. Great carbonation. It get better as it sits a bit.

Bomber. Dark reddish mahogany with a frothy almond color head, leaving spotty lacing. Sweet toffee malt aroma, with raisins, burnt sugar, oaken, vinous and earth notes. Earthy, slightly smoky dark caramel flavor. Dry woody finish with a peppery alcohol warmth. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. A very "rustic" ale.

Bottle....Mahogany body, tan head...light drippy lacing...smells pretty ordinary-some malts and a tinge of alcohol.....bitter malts from front to mid-palate....sour lemon seed flavors, almost as the lemon has gone bad or on its way, especially in the finish....I don’t care for this very much...the body is light and has a creamy effervescence <<-----this doesn’t seem to go with the bitter profile of this brew....it gets a little better as it sits, but still no winner to me

22oz bottle aged at least one year. I just finished a small glass of Big Dicks Old Ale. I can tell from one sniff that this will be a completely different experience. The pour is dark, dark brown. The head consists of only a clump of white bubbles in the middle. The aroma is sweet but earthy, and very rich. There is some smoky notes here as well, which I’m really enjoying. Rich, sweet, a little smoky and a tight dry finish. Quality old ale.

22oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma of dark fruits, oatmeal, raisins, alcohol, caramel, and grapes. Poured a dark amber/chestnut brown in color with a large, dense, creamy, tan head that lasted throughout. Lightly hazy. Sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of alcohol, grapes, oats, caramel, prune, and merlot. Medium body. Average texture. Soft to average carbonation. Fruity alcohol finish.

Garnet color with a thin khaki head. Good smell of caramel malts and mild perfumy hops. Chalky mouthfeel. Harshly biting hop and dry malt flavors here with a stinging alcohol tang to finish. Decent enough. 787
