arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 1, 2009 Dark red bordering on brown with a minimal head ringing the glass. Smell is good and taste is chewy caramel toffee with some bitterness at the end. This is delicious and does not remind me at all of a barleywine (I have trouble differentiating the two styles). I bet the barrel-aged version is a tasty beer.

Aroma is sweet with caramel and hoppy as well, very barley wine-esque...Flavor was citrus hops, caramel and slightly bitter.. Smooth carbonation.. Good stuff rmussman (905), California, USA Aug 26, 2009 Sampled in a big bottle. Pours frothy yet clear dark brown with a nice amount of head on it. A really good brew. After taste is a bit strong, but not bad. fidel (884), Livermore, California, USA Aug 24, 2009 Thanks Scott M. Poured dark reddish brown, malty, herbal hops, caramel, slight dried cherries. JoeTheYounger (217), California, USA Aug 21, 2009 Bottle compliments of DuffmanSW also shared with mspindler. Pours a beautiful mahogany color with a nice tan head. Sweet caramel and hop aroma. Taste is very sweet with some oxidation. Reminds me of a barley wine. Good carbonation. This is the best organic beer I’ve had. msante79 (778), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Aug 8, 2009 Bomber. Pours brownish amber with small off-white head. Aroma is boozy with toffee, brown sugar, sweet and caramel malts. Flavor is toffee, dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar with nice malty balance and a nice amount of booze in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel with average carbonation for the style. Decent old ale but nothing close to Kuhnhenn 4th. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 6, 2009 Looks nice. Not too much in the aroma. This is pretty decent. A hint of coffee, not much alcohol, not as thick as I’d thought it would be. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 3, 2009 500ml bomber. Opaque dark toffee brown with a thin off-white head. Quite a rugged, though true to style, aroma of deep alcohol laced caramel. The mouthfeel is surprisingly light and smooth compared to the aroma, almost medium bodied in some ways. The warm brown sugar finish reinforces the fact that this beer is no joke though. Figgy, with some dark fruit pungency. Some bitterness from the hops helps to balance it all out, but they are still trumped out by the thick malt bill. An excellent example of a quirky style.
