clear dark burgandy, wispy beige head, drips of lace,
dry dark malt aroma with spicy esters and a hint of fruit,
creamy body,
rich malt flavor with lots of chocolate, touch of fruity character that grows as it warms, good balancing earthy hops, light bitterness, nice spicyness,
flavor is much better than the aroma would indicate,

Aroma is light mild malt forward, with caramel and fruity notes. Beer has a low off-white head. Flavor is caramel malt forward with good sweetness, floral hop flavor and fairly roasty. Mouthfeel is medium/low bodied with a medium carb feel. Overall, not bad, but a bit too much roast for this beer. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Earthy-spiced caramel, metallic molasses, raisins, dried cereal grain and slight alcohol in the aroma. Initial flavors of molasses and spicy chocolate slowly evolve through many other tastes and finish strong with bitter, grassy, lemon herb hops. Slight alcohol on the finish is nice; not too strong. Palate is smooth, large, sticky, and slightly dry on the finish. Basically seems like a big-hopped American Barleywine (akin to Bigfoot, which I also love) but this one might use some European flavor hops, so it’s an Old Ale? iowaherkeye (1851), Bakersfield, California, USA

Deep ruby brown with a creamy 1/2 finger head, good retention. Aroma of raisins, alcohol, caramel, a tinge of cinnamon, toasted and roasted malts. Flavor is raisins, woody and herbal hops (much more than I’ve normally gotten in an old ale), and some scorched caramel malts, bordering on toffee. Spicy alcohol is present. Dry roasty finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Pretty good overall. mcbackus (740), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Pours a very dark amber and has a fairly large light tan head. I thought the aroma was fantastic. Ripened frutis (plum), candied malts, spice. Flavor is a little oaky with burnt malts, bitter fruits, barley. Actually could pass as a barley wine. Very nice overall.
