| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2009 (bottle - 22 oz) Ruby red color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is rich and earthy with hints of caramel, plums, wine, chocolate, and some hops. Very complex. Flavor begins with a mixture of caramel and dark fruits giving way to a smooth and malty middle and a lightly bitter and hoppy finish with a big alcohol punch. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers. alexanderj (2242), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 11, 2009 Bottle from bevmo. I thought it was a tripel when I bought it; I guess I should read the lable closer. Doesn’t matter as I would have bought it anyway. Poured a nice looking reddish-caramel brown with an off white head. Aroma was unique, yet familiar. Fruit, biscuit-bread, earth/dirt and caramel. Flavor was really nice and complex. Again it tasted familiar, but unique enough. Flavors of toasted biscuit, caramel, earth, wood, molasses with some floral, earthiness in the finish. This really coated the palate, almost sticking to it. When I drank it it felt like I was inhaling something; could be the alcohol, but it wasn’t extremely hot on the throat. Flavor didn’t mesh as much as it could have and the finish was a bit rough. Still solid. SDalkoholic (1188), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2009 Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Creates a soft mahogany filtered with shades of orange color and is topped by a thick sticky head. Aroma is very floral with hops, caramelized malt and sweet bread such as donuts or French toast. There is same to be said about the flavors with its plump and chewy malt and sweetened caramel backbone. There are also minor notes of floral yet bitter hops that give a much fuller body and actually allow life in what could have been a malty mess. Certainly a hearty drink and with a twenty-two ounce bottle enough ABV to do the trick, I still find this beer to be average. milljam (569), Norman, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2009 The more I sample Old Ales, the more I enjoy them. This was no exception. Mainly malty aroma with hints of hops. Flavor is sweet...caramel and toffee, with a definite alcohol presence. Rciesla (3604), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours red orange with a creamy beige head. The aroma is toasty with some fruity sweetness. The flavor has toasted/roasted grain, and sweeter notes of chocolate and molasses. Pretty good. alexsdad06 (1080), Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Pours a deep copper color with a small but creamy off white head. The aroma is heavily malty, toasted, caramel, some mild fruit, vanilla, and alcohol. The flavor is again dominated by the malts. Toasted caramel, molasses, vanilla, dark fruits, a touch of herbal hop bitterness in the finish, and a significant alcohol burn going down. This is truly a winter warmer. Medium-full bodied. This bottle had at least one year on it when consumed. illidurit (876), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 28, 2009 Dark amber color, a little light for the style, with a creamy beige head. Nice lacing. Aromas of alcohol, fruity esters, alcohol, caramel, and fusel alcohol. Flavor is malty with a thinnish mouthfeel. Solid bitterness. Again, lots of booze. Dark and red fruits and a burnt character. High carbonation, too much alcohol, not very drinkable, however it doesn’t have a bunch of absurd off-flavors like most organic beers. Not recommended.
